I've decided to start a support group where 10C members can share their experiences from the McCready stare.
What is the McCready stare you ask. Well, if you are one of the lucky ones (hail hail) to be close enough to the stage and on Mike's side, you may have experienced the McCready Stare. Mike will lock in on an audience member and go into a deep stare for about 2 minutes. This experience is intense and I'm sure for some, life changing. This thread should be used as a support group for others and provide a warning for those in future concerts. I'll start.

Hi my name is John (everyone says, "Hi John),

On 9/21/12 I was one of the lucky ones (hail hail) to be on Mike's side at the DeLuna Fest. I had never heard of the McCready stare so I was not prepared for what was going to happen. I was one person back from the rail so I was set for PJ. At first Mike locked eyes on a few people behind me that were wearing the Team McCready shirts. I saw lasers going from Mike's eyes to the audience member's eyes. You can't see this on any video and can only be experience in person. It might be some super power that he has. And no, I don't use drugs.

Then it happened to me. I can't remember what song it was but Mike's Eyes locked in on me. It was intense. It was like Mike and I were the only ones there (ok this is starting to sound a little gay not that there is anything wrong with that). I only lasted 45 seconds and I had to look away. Mike kept going for another minute and then looked away. I wish I was more prepared.

Thank you Mike for sharing your powers with me.

Are there any others that are willing to share their story. It's a safe group here so feel free to share.

    I don't know about the mccready stare, but nobody has survived the lunatic fringe stare from the guitarist from x.

    So if X does open for PJ, people up front could be in really trouble. Maybe that's why they haven't announced the shows yet. They have to purchase additional insurance.

    What I see is he points to people in the crowd. So, does he point to people before or after the stare?

    And apprently, noone told him that it isnt polite pointing out.

    It's before. It's like he's giving you a chance to look away if you are not prepared for his awesomeness.

    If Mike gave me the stare is melt like butter on a hot waffle.
    His power is just too much. But I'd likely survive.

    Haha, me too Kimmie! Me too . . . I wouldn't know WHAT to do with myself if I copped one of those. I'd BLUSH. That's for sure.

    I have seen Mike do the point & stare(& second that he was obviously never told not to do both things as a kid). I've not been on the receiving end(yet) but I do know of what you speak & wish strength & healing to those affected. 8-)

    Doesn't sound gay at all (not that it would be bad if it were). It sounds great. Does Mike stare into your eyes, at your t-shirt or what? I've maybe not been locked in that tightly, but I've had similar experiences a few times to a degree with a few musicians in various bands- with musicians who are open to having that energy exchange.

    My brother saw Paul Westerberg in Seattle in '05 and Paul stared at his hat quite a bit during the show. It was a ball cap with a pattern of stars on the front. That show was written up as one of the best of that tour (Westerberg's last one to this date.)

    I was in the receiving of "THE STARE" in the second manchester show this past summer, I think it was through Off He Goes, it was kind of weird :lol: but was awesome also

    To give you an idea of the power and healing power of the McCready stare, here is a pic I took at DeLuna fest. I was safe in this picture because I believe he was staring at the Team McCready Clan behind me. Unfortunately, my iPhone could not pick up the healing lasers that were being produced from his eyes. Some asked where he stares, he stares right into your eyes and connects to your soul.

    In fact, if I'm feeling ill (I also suffer from IBS), I will stare at this picture for a little while and be cured.

    Hello! My name is Ashlee and on 5/21/11 at the Tres Mts show in DC, I experienced the McCready Stare. I was in the 2nd "row" between Mike and dUg and I saw the stare being delivered to those around me...finally it was my turn. I slightly panicked at first as thoughts ran quickly through my mind..."What is the appropriate response?" "Do I look back but then glance away...following the rules of when looking at the sun or nice cleavage?" "Or do I give in and stare back?" After as quick negotiation with myself, I decided to fully immerse in the stare as my face melted away from Mike's blazing guitar.

    Here is a picture from that night...Mike is delivering the stare to another person...I did not attempt to take a picture of him during "my stare" as it's rumored that the intensity of the stare can melt a camera instantly.
