    Well you summed it up pretty much there by saying he is a kid. I know most 19 year olds don't have too much sense (I certainly didn't) but thinking you can just go live off the land after seeing a movie is ridiculous. Hopefully he will come to his senses and think of a better way to deal with his teenage hormones.

    I think we all did stupid things when we were young. This was a particularly dangerous thing to do but I give him credit for seeking out the answers to his questions.

    Its hard to judge this cause its a pretty small article and obviously no one knows the facts behind it. But based on what I've read I can't say I can give him credit. To me, he's putting his parents and loved ones through hell while it seems that he's just confused with society and life in general. Seems the kind who wont survive and will come home soon enough.

    Really? The whole movie glorified what Chris did. Yes they show that he dies in the end, but the movie was all about the adventure and shunning modern life.

    correct. all the movie showed at the end was that he made one simple mistake that lead to his death.
