I thought it would be good to give some love out to The Mighty Jack Irons. He, In my opinion was the best drummer for PJ. I love the rhythms and feel he added to arguably some of their best albums. Anyway, Here's to Jack!

After listening to the entire 95' tour - I would also add that the guy could fucking jam songs like Go, and Animal, some of the more straight drum bashers for sure!!

Jack was their drummer for my favorite albums so I loved it when he was in the band. He brought something different to the band that turned a lot of fans off but I think helped solidify PJ as my favorite band of all time.

The opening drum pattern of In My Tree is one of my favourite sounds in Pearl Jam's entire catalogue.

And I love stuff like this, when he just seemed to be battering his way out of the confines of the song structure: http://youtu.be/iSXI1mcQRp8?t=4m56s

The best drummer PJ have had but only just. Matt is definitely more talented and more versatile but I felt Jack's style complimented the band's sound better. His drums on No Code and Yield are much more subtle than Dave A could ever have managed. Not a huge fan of crashing cymbals and that is all I hear with Dave A. He was still a great drummer though and amazing live. I'm glad things worked out in the way they have and we've been able to enjoy Matt for nearly 15 years! I think he does the PJ songs Jack played on really well but In My Tree was a struggle for him for a while. I'd love Jack to record another PJ album but obviously that's not going to happen.

Yeah, loved that. Matt would never let go like that. He is too disciplined. :D Some would say he turned the song into a bunch of noise, I would pleasantly agree.

That's the one! It always pulls me into the sound- everything else goes a way. Not safe to listen to while driving.

Howdy!! I'll get to play with 'em one day. :D

I'm currently busy framing a ton of PJ posters for board members. I had to pass on Wrigley, but hoping to see them a bit closer to home in VA, or up in my ol' stomping grounds in NYC.

    How are you doing?

That means hes going to be at Wrigley right? 8-)

I just don't like Matt's way of playing it. Jack adds a bit of flare and some dynamics to it. That's what I love about Jacks playing, it's his feel!
