Folks are speculating based upon the Cubs schedule. It very well could be the weekend of June 15th, June 29th, anytime from July 19th-27th, weekend of August 23rd or the weekend in September. Could be anytime, really, that the Cubs have an extended trip.
It is fairly presumptuous of you to assume that people are merely speculating based on the Cubs schedule.

Do you have insider information? You might - I don't know.

But, yes, the Cubs play there. If they aren't there, there are multiple weekends in which Pearl Jam could play. Not presuming anything in regards to the Cubs - they are the tenant of Wrigley Field during the Summer.

Very well could be the case. My point is very simple: There are MULTIPLE dates that they could be there. Nothing is confirmed by anyone at this point.

That's also not a true statement. There is obviously a date confirmed, hence the impending announcement. Just because the public doesn't know the date doesn't mean that people connected with the band don't know the date.

And it very well could be the case that there are those that are indeed close to the band who are on this message board posting it to folks...

My point is the actual date has not been announced/confirmed to the general public. That's all.

Another hint that it's happening. Another view of a stage at Wrigley, you can get a good idea of the typical layout from this. Notice the rooftop viewing angle and remember that when you see them charging $100/ticket for the concert in a few months.

    $100 bucks a ticket? D'oh! :|

If not more for ROOFTOP tickets. They also serve you free booze/food from about an hour before the event and all throughout the event itself :)

That's one of many dates in June/July/August/Sept that they can erect a stage/have a concert/take it down.

Probably is the 14th if most of you vets here know this other poster to be most accurate. Either way - it's going to be fantastic!!! :corn: 8-)

How is the audio quality for a concert @ Wrigley Field?

screw stadium shows, i'd rather have this at alpine, united center, or allstate. wasn't thrilled with wrigley as a concert venue for mccartney or roger waters.

The atmosphere alone when PJ hits the stage will be worth attending. Those bars will be rocking before the show.
    I hope I can make it. :!:

I've seen a few shows there - Roger Waters, The Police & McCartney. I think it's fantastic... the setting is amazing as well.

I'm happy with the announcement, but damn, September is light years away.

Gonna be awesome though. That atmosphere is gonna be unreal around Wrigleyville and inside the Friendly Confines.

should we speculate on why this is happening then? it is the norm for pj to do a short tour these days before cutting an album. i suppose it is a way to raise money to record the music and release it. the trip to south america is an expensive venture but you do get large crowds, so the revenue may be offset by selling merch and cashing in. that may have been all well and good when they thought the album was coming along naturally this year, but now it seems like the process is going to extend out a bit. so this means that either the dates are in july to rake in money to fund the good times of 2013, or maybe pj originally wanted to do their 20th anniversary at wrigley and it didn't work out so here we are. that would make the dates in september make sense. but i digress . . .

I would LOVE it if it happened somewhere around those dates! I'm working a trade show in Chicago the weekdays prior, plus it gives me time to save, and plan with friends.

Everyone wants something now, but my friends and I can't really afford now.

    No.
They don't need money to fund anything. The paydays in South America will be huge and the band apparently loves getting paid to play shows outside the U.S.

The only speculation is that hopefully a fall date means a U.S. "tour" in support of a new record.

Nearly 12 hours later and we are going with the fake viral clues? Who thought that was a good idea? Is this how the Cubs are planning on funding their $300M stadium-to-mall renovation and they need the hype?

I'll wait until the 10C email at this point.
