There are seven movies considered Tarantino's:

    Django Unchained
    Inglorious Bastards
Kill Bill 1 and 2 (which were originally intended to be just one movie but the studio told him no one would sit through a 4 hour samurai marathon)
    Pulp Fiction
    Jackie Brown
    Reservoir Dogs

Tarantino also wrote True Romance, which is a fucking great film if you haven't seen it. The reason it's not considered his movie, is that he didn't direct and produce it. The story goes that he brought Reservoir Dogs and True Romance to the studio at the same time, and the studio loved both... however they told him, they would only let him make one (on a limited budget to boot) and the other he had to give them to let someone else make... Tarantino chose Reservoir Dogs.... however, he still wound up heavily involved in the making of True Romance.

As for deathproof (and same with Machete)- it's not considered a Tarantino film, as he and the other guy (he name eludes me right now) collaborated so much in the making of both movies.

Personally, my list looks like this:

    Pulp Fiction
    Kill Bill Vol 2
    Inglorious Bastards
    Kill Bill Vol 1
    Reservoir Dogs
    Django Unchained
    Jackie Brown

But realistically speaking those first 5 are all so good, they're tough to separate. Masterpiece all IMO.
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.

I need to see the Kill Bill films again
  • Havent yet seen Django, but Pulp Fiction is definitely my #1. I'd probably put Basterds at 2, Reservoir Dogs at #3, Jackie Brown at #4 and the Kill Bills last.

    My ranking:

    2. Kill Bill vol. 1
    3. Kill Bill vol. 2 (if counted as a whole, Kill Bill takes the #1 spot)
    4. Django Unchained
    5. Jackie Brown
    6. Inglorious Basterds
    7. Pulp Fiction

The bottom movies are still better than most other directors could ever dream of making.

    Reservoir Dogs is #1
    Pulp Fiction #2

Kill Bill's are at the bottom

Everything else fits in the middle.

Haven't seen the new one and really wasn't going to with such a decline after the top two. May change my mind, hearing good things on Django

I do believe I agree with this statement. Reservoir Dogs, imo, will never be topped.

I don't understand the hatred for Kill Bill in here...

it was an excellent movie both Vol 1 and 2... taken as one movie, it would be my number 1 over pulp fiction... the story, the editing, and piecing together... the whole thing was a masterpiece.

Wasnt there an Iron Fists flick or something too?

Tarantino has lent his name (and provided $) to a lot of foreign films... mainly they are all films that are made overseas (typically china/japan as he's into the classic story of "vengeance" these movies exhibit - i.e. see Kill Bill).... he invests money in the North American promotion and slaps his name on the film to get people to see it... there have been a lot of them over the last few years.

This is not to be confused with a movie written/directed/produced by Tarantino.

Ahh, I see. I was mistaken about the Man with the Iron Fists. AS far as Kill BIll...I just dont think the characters and dialog holds up to the others. A little too much focus on ass kicking (which is ok sometimes). But the scene in the hospital where the guy wants to rape Uma just seemed like the female version of Butch escaping the gimp from pulp fiction, that scene was just terrible and seemed like filler. Maybe I should go back and give them another try. I did wonder if my expectations were too high when I saw them originally. But after seeing them in theaters, I've never had the desire to go back and re-watch, as opposed to True Romance, Res Dogs, And Pulp fiction, which I can practically recite word for word

basterds > pulp based on the basement bar scene alone. both incredible movies, but that one particular scene did it for me.

When I was in Newfoundland over the Christmas break I discovered that the brew pub/restaurant I go to regularly (because my buddy manages the place) opened a bar in the basement... several long nights were spent down there washing down pints with me uttering "You never fight in a basement" repeatedly...

Not ranking Django since I haven't seen it.

    1) Pulp Fiction
    2) Resevoir Dogs
    3) Inglorious Basterds
    4) Jackie Brown
    5) Kill Bill 1
    6) Kill Bill 2
    7) Deathproof (Although that car chase scene at the end rivals Bullitt.)

    Based on his written movies:

    1) True Romance
    2) Natural Born Killers
    3) From Dusk till Dawn

My list changes constantly, but right now I'd have to go with...

    1. Jackie Brown
    2. Resevoir Dogs
    3. Pulp Fiction
    4. Inglorious Bastards
    5. Kill Bill Vol.1
    6. Django Unchained
    7. Kill Bill Vol. 2
    8. Death Proof

I liked Django, but you could tell he missed Sally Menke. I thought it could have been 20-25 mins shorter and it just didn't have the feel of a Tarantino film all the way through. Parts did but not all of it.

Kind of like ranking Springsteen albums, the last ranked is still great. :D
I am a huge fan of QT - love all the flicks, but here it goes:(simply based on personal rewatchability :D )
    1. Pulp Fiction
    2. Reservoir Dogs
    3. Django Unchained
    4. Kill Bill Vol 1 & 2
    5. Jackie Brown
    6. Inglorious Bastards
    7. Death Proof
    8. Special acknowledgment for his guest work on Sin City- the car chase w/ Del Toro and Owen is awesome
    Written:
    1. Natural Born Killers
    2. From Dusk Til Dawn
    3. True Romance

Guy is brilliant and a lover of all sorts of movies. As someone who has watched waaaay too many movies - B, foreign, etc - his love and appreciation - not to mention homage to those that came before him, is fascinating and appreciated by this fan! Hopefully Killer Crows comes to fruition!!!
