Finally saw Radiohead tonight and last night after months of waiting. For me, they are definitely the best concert of 2012. I thoroughly recommend them and cant wait to see them again though I guess I'll be waiting a few years. Awesome band!!! :D:D

Gary Clark Jr. threw his hat in the ring this past week for one of the best shows I've seen this year, maybe ever.

    1. Bruce Springsteen @ LA Sports Arena (First time I've ever seen him. It was the eve of my birthday so it ended up being really special)
1A. Gary Clark Jr. @ Troubadour
    2. The Jack White experience (Mayan, Wiltern x2, Outside Lands, "B" show in the woods @ OSL, and Bridge School. You really have to see him multiple times to get the full experience with both bands.)
    3. My Morning Jacket's 3 night stand at the Wiltern (~67 songs over three nights with NO repeats)

Honorable Mention: Black Keys @ Santa Barbara Bowl, Other Lives @ El Rey, Wilco @ Hollywood Bowl, Beck @ El Rey, Coachella sets (Gary Clark Jr., The Hives, Radiohead, Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg), & Outside Lands as a whole.

Few more shows to go this year including The Joy Formidable @ Troubadour, Soundgarden @ Fonda

Can't wait to look back years from now on seeing him at the Troubadour, easily my favorite show this year.

I am very excited for Black Rebel Motorcycle Club at the Troub again Dec. 21

For me... Radiohead, Glendale, AZ, 3/15

And the recent Japandroids show here in Tempe was pretty damn rad.

Of course, there's Eddie's show in PHX. That was magical.

    Good god...I wrote magical...

This show, another show, a show here and a show there.
  • I've got to give it to Jack White in Montreal with the guy's band. I saw him with both bands, but he was just on fire that night. A close second (and maybe number 1 depending on my mood) would be Bruce Springsteen in Ottawa. 3 hour show, amazing.

    1. Eddie Vedder - Dallas 11/15
    2. Radiohead - Dallas 3/5
    3. Collective Soul - Tulsa 6/4
    4. Toadies - New Braunfels 9/1
    5. Noel Gallagher's HFB - Dallas 11/7
    6. Toadies - Ft. Worth 10/13
    7. Toadies - Dallas 6/16
    8. Chicago - Dallas 7/21
    9. Collective Soul - Dallas 6/3

The reason I put the other Collective Soul show last is because the venue (House of Blues) sucked. The worst sound I have ever heard at a venue. I debated putting it above the Chicago show because I got to meet Collective Soul before the show but since this is just for the show itself I'd have to put it last. The first 3 shows on the list especially were incredible.

I've only seen the 2nd night of the big fest in Philly this year (besides student open mics) and loved it. However, looking forward to AWOLNATION at Ram's Head Live in Baltimore in 2 weeks+. Their album is a family favorite (including the little guy who goes nuts for nearly every song but especially Sail, MF, and Knights of Shame). Hoping for awesomeness.

It's not always about quantity, sometimes quality rules, and I think your list is awesome. I would trade most of my shows this year for just one PJ.

    Great year for concerts!

    In no specific order:

PJ/X in AMS - the warm vibe at the 10C gathering, the canals & the new friends we met made this very special

Stone Roses w/Justice Tonight Band/Primal Scream in Manchester UK - my first ever massive outdoor UK gig!

Kasabian at Coachella (tent) - the excitement level was amazing because they rarely play the U.S.

James at the El Rey in L.A. - is there a better frontman than Tim Booth?

Pulp at the Fox Theater in Pomona, CA - Jarvis is almost as good as Tim Booth!

Pulp at Coachella (main stage) -seeing them perform "Common People" at a festival was amazing!

Jesus & Mary Chain at Hollywood Park - witnessed a genuine Reid bros. shouting match backstage

Wilco at various venues in L.A.

Band of Horses at the Troubadour

    MMJ at the Wiltern

Well said about quality ruling over quantity. I saw this list too and thought how awesome it would be to see PJ and Eddie in one year. We were lucky enough to see Eddie in March last year downunder and he did quite a few shows in our country, but PJ havent been out here since '09 and many of us are getting antsy - we figure they're due next year. Ive had a good year myself cos as I mentioned before, I saw Radiohead and they were as good as you can get live. Next year we may get Soundgarden, PJ and I'm seeing Kiss and Motley Crue in March. So it could be a big year for us downunder concert-wise with many other artists coming out as well.

Between concerts being my absolute favorite thing and 3 music related internships this year, I've made a lot of shows. Recently (instead of paying attention in one of my lectures  ) I was trying to come up with my top 10 best concerts this year. In not much of a particular order:

    1. Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band in DC
    2. Pearl Jam in Philly
    3. Global Fest in NYC (cheating a bit here...Band of Horses, Black Keys, Foo Fighters and Neil + Crazy Horse were all amazing)
    4. Coldplay in NJ
    5. Glen Hansard in NYC and DC (again, cheating, can't pick just one show!)
    6. The Avett Brothers in Baltimore
    7. Radiohead in NJ
    8. Roger Waters in NYC
    9. Jack White in MD
    10. Of Monsters and Men in DC

    Honorable mentions:
DMB in CT and NYx3 (one of the shows I see on their winter tour could easily make my top 10, though)
    James Taylor in NJ
    RNDM in DC
    Rodrigo y Gabriela in DC

hmm. i thought i saw more shows than i did, but looking through my stubs it isn't that many. maybe i talked about going to shows more often than i ended up actually going.

    shows i saw

    pj- missoula
    rndm- minneapolis
    chevelle- minneapolis
dave matthews band- alpine valley (2 shows)
    neil diamond- st. paul

    river's edge festival- st. paul
    dave matthews band
    tool
    flaming lips
    sublime with rome
    puscifer
    polica

    bonnaroo- manchester
    radiohead
    rhcp
    phish
    beach boys
    the roots
    feist
    kenny rogers
superjam (d'angelo, questlove, some roots, and some notable others)
    black star
    gza
    alabama shakes
    gary clark, jr.
    trampled by turtles

of those, it's probably tought to beat the bonnaroo superjam. it was just an incredible hour and a half of music. i really hope it gets released some day. it deserves it. the rndm show a couple weeks back was also fantastic. the dave matthews shows were notable because n2 is the longest show they've ever done (and n1 wasn't much shorter) and they are up there with alpine '08 as the best shows i've ever seen by them.

They did a free show at a Toronto Exhibition (with the price of admission there, of course), this summer. Sadly I missed out on it and am kicking myself. They were spectacular when I caught them last year.
  • I went to 1 show this year.
    I saw The Who.
