I agree with neily. I was fortunate to see them the past two years in WI and MT as I am willing to travel to see them. But we are kidding ourselves if we think the band Pearl Jam is any of the "bandmates" main focus. I guess we should be happy they have the type of relationship that allows them to venture onto new projects and still maintain a "band". I told my wife, who almost had a heart attack, that State Radio is my new favorite band. They tour and put out new music all the time. Ironically, State Radio is Chad's new band after Dispatch and I was mad to see Dispatch get back together. I guess we should be happy that none of these PJ's side projects are really blowing up to being big bands.

Blow up to oblivion or blow up to major success? I don't like either Brad Smith or dUG Pinnick's voice. Though I did like the tunes Smith did for Sopranos.

I saw Tres Mts. and I enjoyed them. I personally have no major problem with the side projects. I also saw Three Fish and liked them. I was going to go to RNDM but the weather in the east was horrible at the time. Best case scenario would PJ losing a fan following and start playing smaller venues like bars and concert halls but that's never happening. Life is too short to wait for a band, listen to what's out there and be happy when they finally do put out new music.

Could you imagine PJ pulling off that size of a tour at this juncture? I couldn't.

  • Ole had better not be on this album, whenever it comes out

Doubt it especially since it'll be very old by fall 2013 or whenever the new PJ album comes out, I mainly asked because I was curious if Ole was recorded separate from the new album sessions or were from the same time/part of the new album sessions. One positive from all of this is that from what Jeff said and the others have said in interviews, if they come back to the songs they recorded and aren't happy with them, they won't just release them on the album, they'll get back to work and write even more songs.

The one troubling thing is they haven't even confirmed to head back in the studio in March after Soundgarden's tour, but will simply discuss it at that point and aren't really sure what will happen.

I'd rather wait for a new record that doesn't sound rushed.

Let's hope with all of this time, it's at least 50 minutes.

Yep that's what i've been feeling for some time , the guys get a rush from new projects bands what ever you wanna call it Pearl Jam is no longer supplying that rush , the end is very close .....
jesus greets me looks just like me ....
  • 4-5 years is a normal time frame for a band of this size and how busy they are personally and with other things. PJ is not a side project.

  • This band is creatively in the toilet. The fact that Ole was a part of the last session of songs speaks volumes to me. If that song is indicative of what was coming out of those sessions, then the next album will be horrible. It's been a great run, but I think it's pretty much over. The signs are pretty apparent to me when it takes them 4-5 years to put out a new album and they would rather play solo shows (with pretty much the same songs each night), multiple toss-off side projects, etc.

I have to agree with this. Sad but true. I'm still hoping we're in for a big surprise though.

    backspcer released sep 09.

    avocado 06

    2002

    2000

    etc....

this isn't crazy espcecially with PJ 20 being squeezed in, ed solo...all the other solo stuff.

didn't they just tour Europe this summer?

not to mention they are in their upper 40's with families.

Yeah... touring is draining from what I understand...

I was reading some interview from Maynard James Keenan. He was talking about how once the new Tool album comes out, he doesn't want to do a huge tour. He said that he just can't physically handle it anymore.

The boys are around his age and, honestly, they are doing pretty good.

I'm content that the guys are enjoying doing side projects, I enjoy them. I am hoping that Ed does stay true to his word about reporting back to the fellas as he put it in Houston. Here's to hoping, but I'm taking it with a grain of salt. I think the band is far from done musically, but touring, will probably be done in smaller sections from now on. Like Europe, then some months off, North America, and a month or two off, Australia, South America ect. That's what I hope they do. Glad they are enjoying their other bands. Pearl jam will get back together and put out the record when they are ready. It's coming, just not as soon as we would like. Once they get the fuel, as pearl jam, to go in and record, and finish, the record, I'm excited to see what the creativity brings. I honestly think, we are all just a little paranoid, because they have never indulged in side projects, this in deph before. When they are ready to get in the studio, and work on the next PJ record, I'm excited to see what they bring to the table creativity wise.
