Ah all these Lollapalooza moments - I remember ed at lolla sitting in the crowd about 20 feet from the stage when Lush was performing. He was sitting next to a friend of mine. I asked him what he talked about with Ed and he said "Eddie liked my shoes"
Later that day, in a soggy pit during Ministry some guy kicked me right in the face with his muddy doc martin.
You remember thinking "Did he just say 'the bastard that married my mama' on live radio?" as you listened to (and recorded on Maxell XLII) 4/3/94
Ha! I remember this. Good one!
- if you remember hearing "Deep" on your first time though Ten after rushing home from the record store with your new purchase...and thinking 'That is the scariest song EVER!"
-if you remember hearing "Animal" for the first time and thinking (in shock) 'Did I hear those lyrics right? Surely not!' Only you had heard them exactly right.
I loved the way, in the early days, these guys pressed the envelope soooo far beyond the typical listener's comfort zone...
...you remember eagerly awaiting the next Tickle My Nausea newsletter
This thread is awesome, as I share about 95% of these experiences with y'all...really bringing back some great memories. From staying up taping the Self-Pollution/Monkeywrench broadcasts to the $50 boots...ahhh, lovely times
Here is my ticket contribution (my first show, $23), it's starting to fade without any direct exposure to sunlight, it was all a lovely baby blue at one point :? :
Remember arriving at that gymnasium in Augusta and thinking, "What the hell...?"?
Here's another one: When Ed gave out his phone number on Self Pollution Radio. I wad in junior high then, and I spent my entire lunch break at the payphone just trying that number over and over again...

I remember back in the day when I bought anything with "Pearl Jam" on it at Easy Street Records in the old Kirkland, WA location. Bootlegs, stickers, posters, buttons any everything else! I was buying soo many things that they even held stuff for me before putting it on the shelf.
I was also buying up every rock magazine like Circus or Hit Parade with anything Pearl Jam related!.....hehe
It's crazy how many things I share with the other posts.
you got to see this band no one knew about with comp tickets at First Avenue in Minneapolis and watched Jeff spraypaint the stickman life-sized on the backstage entrance door before they hopped on their tour bus!
"No way to save someone who won't take the rope, and just lets go..."
Not really an "old school fan if", but I was still thinking of this thread...
I'm flipping through random Music Choice channels about 12 minutes ago and I get to "Classic Alternative" and I hear some drums and...
"I take a ...walk outside..."
They show random facts about each band as the song is playing:
"Pearl Jam's Jeff Ament has trekked up Mt. Kilimanjaro to benefit the Save the Children charity."
--I think I remember that...not too long ago?
"Eddie Vedder, Stone Gossard, and Jeff Ament appeared in Cameron Crowe's 1992 film Singles."
--My first thought was "Yup. EdVed was the drummer in Matt Dillon's band." Didn't even have to look it up, but Matt Dillon's name wasn't coming to me easily.
"Pearl Jam's debut album Ten sold 12 million copies."
--Immediately thought of my Super Deluxe
"1995 Best Hard Rock Performance: 'Spin The Black Circle' Pearl Jam"
--And Eddie didn't know what a Grammy was supposed to mean!
"In 2000 Pearl Jam had five albums on the Billboard Top 200 chart in one week."
"Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder is a basketball fan and loves the Chicago Bulls."
--Classic YouTube clip of him singing the anthem pregame.
Presidential Advice from President-Elect Mike McCready: "Are you getting something out of this all encompassing trip?"
sitting here shaking my head, say yes, yes, yep that to
You have the vitalogy encyclopedia
you have the time magazine with eddie on the front
You entered a radio contest to win tickets in which you had to find a "pearl" in a pool full of Jam and you couldn't use your hands
You bought and hunted for your collectable PJ promo's and imports from Goldmine Magazine and going to record shows held at Elks halls in the middle of no where.
You typed on a green screen with only text on GENIE (pre AOL daze) and met other PJ fans who you are still friends with to this day!
You read Footsteps Fanzine and wrote letters and exchanged tapes and vhs video with other fans by snail mail.
You got to talk to Eddie and Jeff on Rockline and then later when you called Eddie's phone and he sang a song he made up on the spot just for you about the Frogs!
Were on AOL and got an online fanzine called "Indifference".
Have seen Dave, Jack, and Matt on drums (only wish I had seen Dave #1)
Felt special because this band made you feel like you were part of something special and so amazing.
