Hadn't heard about this -- sweet! I'm also not a big festival guy, but I could never pass up PJ in ATL (I live 3 or 4 miles away from the park). Plus, this would be the first time I've seen PJ at a festival since seeing them at lollapalooza in Pittsburgh with Soundgarden back in '92.

I have only been to Atlanta one time in my life and it was gorgeous!

If PJ plays there I may just have to make it my 2nd visit. :D

Born in 74' lived there till about 82' then in Calhourn till 93' Stockbridge till Fall 94' then TEXAS.

Lived in a few places growing up, was born in South Georgia, Tifton. Went to school in North Georgia, Calhoun. Right after high school before college I lived in Stockbridge ;). Love that place :D

Ha! It truly is a small world. I spent my childhood in Tifton (79-87). When were you there? I moved to Dublin after Tifton and then to the Atlanta area after high school. I've been here for the most part (minus a few years in Athens for college and a year in Dubai).

Cool, man. Well, if this thing actually happens, I hope you can make a trip back to the Peach State.

Come on guys, keep it in perspective! If we weren't already flying to Europe and seeing PJ, I'd be booking a flight to Atlanta for sure (that Delta hub-to-hub connection from Minneapolis to Atlanta is great).

They play your city and you bitch.

    Why all the bitch?

    :?:

Aren't the 'Canes and Yellow Jackets ACC schools?

It doesn't matter especially if PJ is in Atlanta. I won't be watching football that weekend anyway!

  • You know were getting old when you even think twice about going to see pj at a festival.15 years ago I wouldn't have even considered not going. I dont know it seems the older I've gotten the more I don't like big crowds. Too many damn drunks. But if thats our only show besides FlA I'm there.

Hmm...the way the press release reads, it sounds like it could be something up their alley. Plus C3 is one of the promoters...

I don't care. Midtown or Fairburn, either one I'm there!

Last year Peter Conlon head of midtown tried to have a single act for the Friday night of a two day event. Didn't work out. Inside info Pearl Jam maybe doing a full show the Friday night before Deluna Festival. Why ten club tried to throw out a hint to hold up.

Left Atlanta in September after 15 years there.

Music Midtown is now a 1 day thing - very much scaled back from what it once was - in fact, for a few years, they didn't even have it at all - then brought it back only last summer in a very much scaled down incarnation.

Although, since it's Atlanta, it is still a traffic nightmare for everyone who does not live in mid-town. But then, what ISN'T?

I suppose it is possible that they are ramping it up again to an entire weekend...but I think after Occupy Atlanta, the Atlanta Police would have fought that plan tooth and nail. They are a grumpy lot. :P

So assuming this rumor comes true, what's everybody thinking about doing? DeLuna, Midtown, or try to do both? Just curious.

Its official that it is a two day event. Not sure how the Friday will work but the Avett Brothers accidentally leaked they were playing the Friday the 21. Rumor is that Pearl Jam is playing the 21 if they are playing. So maybe a couple of bands on friday and the rest on saturday? But if the rumros are true I will be going to music midtown. But if I can catch a ride on the tour bus I will attend both haha

of course I could be wrong but I think the whole "embargo" thing kind of gives this away.. Deluna and Music Midtown could be considered "competing" festivals and I am sure there was some kind of agreement where Deluna said fine, you can play Atlanta but you cant make any announcement for x amount of days.. this way they get first "dibs" on potential concert goers..Pensacola is only 5 hours away so they can easily play both festivals the same weekend.. I see PJ closing out both festivals though so that would be Sat/Sun but does it really matter? I bet they stay in Atlanta to finish recording their new album just like they did with Backspacer...where there is smoke, there is fire... I am more curious about the "tour" because there is no way in hell they are dragging all their shit and people literally across the country for 2 nights...I guess we should find out next week!! hopefully....
