Felt sad when I heard the news. I also grew up watching American Bandstand, and that music is the soundtrack of my childhood.

May Dick Clark rest in peace.

I think when folks 40 and over look back, it will be for AB followed by this, but the fact is - he was also responsible for many of the great game shows of our time (not the least of which was Pyramid in which he appeared - that was really my childhood). He produced so much that only now many folks will hear about. He was a true GIANT in the entertainment industry beyond just the music he pulled the strings on for so many years (morphing AB into an annual gala in effect).

New Year's Eve hasn't been the same in some time... It's been a big smelly dump with flies on it since they decided to let Kathy Griffin join in. Blech. From class to trash!

I remember my sister propping her tape recorder (12 x 6 x 3) on a coffee mug in front of the single speaker of the tube television and telling everyone to be QUIET while she recorded American Bandstand!

(Blondie doing Rapture is still burned into my retinas and memory bank)

Folks, it wasn't a mix tape unless you had authentic background noises, and she had 4 younger brothers running through the house!

    Rest in Peace Dick
