Very happy that PJ is finally playing in my neck of the woods. Piedmont Park is a cool place to see a show. I missed Music Midtown last year but saw Paul McCartney there 3 years ago and the atmosphere was really cool. Last year's festival featured Coldplay and The Black Keys and tickets were only 50.00. Granted it was a one day fest as opposed to two, but hopefully they can keep the prices lower than what you might pay for a single show. I live two minutes from a MARTA station and I expect a house full of out of town guests that weekend.
All these years...all those pages and pages on threads begging for shows...how many miles driven and dollars spent flying everywhere else to see PJ except your hometowns or within driving distance...and now, when it looks like PJ is in fact going to play a few South dates, people complain that they are festival shows? :wtf:
Come on guys, keep it in perspective! If we weren't already flying to Europe and seeing PJ, I'd be booking a flight to Atlanta for sure (that Delta hub-to-hub connection from Minneapolis to Atlanta is great).
Totally agree. The starving man doesn't hold out for steak.
Speak for yourself! :P
I've had enough PJ festival shows in the South (ACL 2009, New Orleans 2010) that I want a real pearl jam show in my backyard... not another festival gig.
Plus I really like steak, and it's better when you're starving.
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.
Look at all these Atlanta folks!? And so many that seem to live down the street!! Where are y'all when I'm out partying it up in this big town?!
So PJ at Music Midtown...very, very interesting. I had my heart set on a drivable beach vacation watching PJ with sand between my toes. The question is now...how do I manage to make it to my hometown show AND Deluna? And enjoy both properly. Hmm...
All I saw was PJ and DeLuna a little while ago and I immediately jumped on the tickets. Then I come on here and hear all the rumblings about Music Midtown and I go :fp: . The awesome customer service dept at DeLuna actually cancelled my order so now I wait for the official announcement for Atlanta.
Last year's Music Midtown was definitely worth the money just for the Black Keys alone.
Yeah..a strange situation for us Atlanta folks who already bought Deluna tickets.
And sadly, I'd prefer the ocean over Piedmont Park. I just can't imagine PJ playing a mile from my house and actually not going.
The DeLuna lineup is so good and I'm with you 100% on the preference of ocean vs park. But, and this is a big butt, the sole reason I asked for a refund is because of your last sentence.

when you asked for the refund did they say anything about PJ playing Atlanta? probably not but never know.. I am guessing they are playing here but until I hear for sure, I am trying not to get too excited

No, they didn't say anything about Atlanta but I just figured they were more likely to issue a refund if it was requested the same day the purchase had been made versus a few days later or even after the announcement is made. If it turns out they are not playing Atlanta then I'll just buy the DeLuna tickets again.

Yeah, unfortunately it's a wait and see. I want to be crazy insanely excited, but now I'm just sorta stressed. :?

I guess it is win/win either way.. if they play Atlanta GREAT..if they dont then it looks like a great weekend at the beach.. either way, VIP is the way to go..

Except we've all bought tickets already, contacted condos, etc. I still think the sand between my toes is winning over good old Piedmont. It's reeeally absurd, but I'm used to doing absurd stuff for this band.

ahhhhh.didnt realize you bought the tix already... everything being equal Pensacola is the better option. for me, Atlanta would be just plain easier.. 4 kids at home and will save me a grand or two!!
if atlanta is true, and its a one day gig, i'm all for it!
if PJ plays all nights at florida i'm for it
all i'm saying is i don't have any desire to hang around in the muck for 3 days for stuff i don't wanna do
i still think its awesome that PJ is finally playing the south for you guys
great!
peace,

If PJ plays Atlanta, it'll be a 2 day festival. And it's pretty doubtful they'll play all 3 nights at DeLuna. I believe the Foos will be headlining both festivals with PJ.
Pensacola Beach is rated one of the top beaches...in the world I believe. Something tells me you could find something to do there if you weren't interested in seeing any of the other bands playing DeLuna. The same is true for Atlanta though.
Either way, they're festivals. Both of them. With no 10C tickets, no full sets. And I'm especially grateful to finally be able to at least drive from my own home to a show. But there's a huge difference in a short set in Piedmont Park and a 1-2-3-4 night run at The Fox. :(

I'm sure that you are absolutely right.

its just that...well, we'll see.
i tell u what tho if i was a southerner...anywhere near there i'd be there in a heartbeat

I know I'm not alone from speaking with some others here about festivals
it is a matter of can not want
able to physically ... not won't
they will be in my hometown and I can't but I am hopeful one day with a new album to enjoy
I will make some really great Pearl Jam concert memories to add to the ones I cherish!
Lived in a few places growing up, was born in South Georgia, Tifton. Went to school in North Georgia, Calhoun. Right after high school before college I lived in Stockbridge . Love that place

Makes my Georgia assvwanna be home . Hope this happens for you guys, been to long
Robley, I didn't realize you were from Georgia. What did you call home before you moved to your present climes?
Ha! It truly is a small world. I spent my childhood in Tifton (79-87). When were you there? I moved to Dublin after Tifton and then to the Atlanta area after high school. I've been here for the most part (minus a few years in Athens for college and a year in Dubai).

you are correct, that is a reference to a certain song by a certain master of the slide guitar
