The dark lord returns. Great stuff. I always think he should be more popular than what he is.

Did anyone notice the mini lyrical quote of "Burning Jacob's Ladder" (from the gravedigger's song single but not on the album) in 'Grey Goes Black'?

Two listens today, I hope this is a grower because although it has some amazing moments there's a few moments which seem to drag rather than draw you in plus a couple of Mark's worst lyrics to date. There's a lot to like but I wasn't blown away like I was with Bubblegum or the Gutter Twins, Saturnalia. :?

I seriously can't stop listening to Ode to Sad Disco. I haven't found a song that I just want to repeat over and over in a long time and this one is it. It's just so freakin' awesome.

This is how I feel about "Bleeding Muddy Water." Seriously, such a great record thus far.

Ha. That's exactly what I was thinking. Not a talker. Even live, he doesn't interact with the crowd very much other than a "Thank you" here and there. However, the show was brilliant. The new material rips live. Just let's his voice and music do the talking.

That man surely isn't very interested in being interviewed.

I've read he said more than usual at the New York show. There is a recent interview with him on youtube and he's quite animated in that to be honest.

That radio interview was pretty poor...

This new record is, to me, definitive of Mark Lanegan. There is some really fantastic lyrics on this album too, and I think it really touches on a lot of styles that he is so able to do.

"Bleeding Muddy Water" provides such an atmosphere, I feel like I can feel that song.

"Harborview Hospital" especially struck me last night... went perfect with the city lights and the skyline I was driving by.

I seriously can't put this one down.

I got the album this weekend and listened to it while cooking a 1 AM meal w/ a ten-beer buzz ... it felt like I was on mushrooms with the music sonically enveloping me in the kitchen.

That said, I will have to give it a few more listens. I was hoping for a more stripped-down record like field songs, but it sounded pretty cool.

Did you see that crazy chick with the fucking L.A.P.D. searchlight camera phone? What a fucking idiot she was. I was glad the security guards dragged her drunken sorry ass out.
And did you get a picture with Lanegan? He makes the funniest faces at people in their pictures. I asked him if it was okay if I posted his picture (with me and my friend) on the interWebs... and he said, 'Sure... and thanks for asking, first.'
Great gig... once that crazy chick was ejected.

I didn't see her but I definitely saw that light. With how dark they had the lights during the show, it was super annoying.
Bummed that I didn't stay after since I saw a picture somebody posted once I got home of him signing after the show. Wish I would have known.
