I know people that won the lottery 3 times. Back to back nights actually. I think they just put people they want there, I don't think it's an actual lottery.

This thread is confusing. The OPP was talking about lottery as in 10club ticket sale lottery, right? Or was it lottery as it scoring lottery seats @ the show? Row 1, 2, 9, 10.

They must be just lucky to win it three nights in a row..

I think once you win the lottery for the 1st, 2nd, 9th, and 10th your name should be scratched off....So, you can't win that win the lottery for the that row again....This is how I would do it...But, I am not running the 10c...There is no reason one person should win the front row more than once during a tour....It supposed to be a lottery for fans that have great fan club numbers....

  • You said
I have proof that is rigged...I seen it with my own two eyes...The ten club won't ever admit it that isn't totally randomed.....I don't give a crap if they select who they want up front...But, I thought this lottery was for fans that don't have so great of fan club numbers...A chance to get a ticket up front....Also, don't call it totally random...When it isn't..

PM me the PROOF you've been ranting about! I'm still waiting.

  • There is clearly a recurring theme here. People who want a fair system want a lottery. People who want an advantage over other members and can give a rat's ass about fairness as long as they get their tickets don't.

On another note, I believe it was Kelly Curtis or Tim who said a lottery can't work for a full band tour because Pearl Jam has too many non US fans unlike Dave Matthews or Phish. Can someone please explain this? I believe non US fans are just as capable of entering a lottery as US fans. Payment methods are the same. Where's the problem?

In regards to the fairness of the Rows 1,2,9 and 10 lottery. I joined the fan club two years ago and attended my first show with fan club tix in KC last summer. To my surprise I "randomly" received row 10 tickets. I have bought very little merch and I don't know anyone affiliated with the 10 club or Pearl Jam. I am truly grateful for the seats and enjoyed my favorite PJ show experience. I had attended PJ shows prior to joining the club. This tells me that at least some of the seats are random.

    Thanks 10 club.

Each person is supporting a system that serves their own best interest. It's too bad we can't all just be honest enough to admit that. There's no room on the moral high ground for people who are concerned about how others acquire concert tickets.

Guess there's no moral high ground either for people who donate $ to fight hunger and are concerned about how others acquire food. It's all about me.

You're equating fighting hunger to acquiring concert tickets. That's my point. Concern for the former is selfless and beautiful. Concern for the latter is almost always dishonest.
  • I'm going to be 100% honest here.....If a lottery means that I might not get tickets to a show I want to go to, then I'm against it. If the current F5'ing system means I get tickets to ALL the shows I want, then I'm for it. Call it selfish, but I could give a rat's ass if Joe Shmow can't get tickets, and I can. Either system is going to upset people, so it's just a matter of what PJ wants, not us. And I don't mean to offend anyone on here, this is just my opinion.

The lottery for fan club tickets for the pearl jam tour is the only way to go...If the ten club can't provide a better online process?...Lottery is the only fair way...Everyone has an equal chance..

For a regular tour it definitely wouldn't be a problem. Many more tickets to go around.

If they follow the same theory for handing out tix for PJ shows that they do for Ed shows, then I hear what you're saying. I can personally speak on the Ed shows side of things. My girlfriend and I, plus 2 friends we came with were picked by Ed's security for Front row seats, dead center, in Philly last year.
When exchanging tickets with us, they mentioned that they were looking for "nice, responsible, well-behaved looking couples" for those seats. They specifically reminded us to be courteous with cameras and to NOT take pictures.
Like I said, I have no idea if they follow this same pattern for the entire bands shows. I guess that it couldnt because the will call workers would never be able to judge peoples appearances/personalties before handing out the tickets. Idk.
And so you see, I have come to doubt

    Hi,

    Dr. Delight,

I have been to a lot of pearl jam concerts....I have never seen anyone upgraded seats...Not saying it doens't happen...But, I have seen Tim escort a fan or two close to the stage...But, usually it isn't regular seat....It is like in the middle of the row or against the guard rail.....

    Hi Tom,

I can understand you wanting tickets...But, when you pay your membership fee...Each memeber should have an equal chance...

My fear is that when a WA show is played... I'll get boned. It always been a fear of mine living up here but I hope when there's a full PJ tour they do a regional lottery first, then open it up to everyone. This is how the old system should have been set up as well IMO

That's another thing, even if you don't get tickets, there are plenty of members out there that will sell em for face. I've been to a couple places without any tickets. But upon arriving, i find a fan and buy em. I'd still rather have em ahead of time....

I agree. We all should have an equal chance, and we do! 10c is not supposed to figure out who doesn't have internet access or a slow computer.
