the lottery is awesome and should be the new standard

  • My boyfriend and I are both members and during previous (and, yes, very frustrating) sales, we'd both log in to our accounts and try for tickets. Whoever got them first, got them and that was the end of it.

Now, with a lottery, how do we sort out how we'll get tickets?
We each enter one show hoping one of us gets picked?
We each enter different shows and hope we each get picked for the one we entered?
We each enter one show and both get picked?
Then we each have to pay for two pair of tickets and worry about selling a pair to someone the day of the show?

Meh. That's too much thinking and calculating for me. And the main reason we decided not to even enter our names for any of the EV shows even though we're hoping to go to a few.

I am going to Prague and Berlin through the lottery (and actually never worried about "winning" the lottery for those shows), but I think a lottery for my area shows is a horrible idea and hope that this system is only a temporary fix to the much larger issue. I much prefer a ticketing system that works where I only have to spend 15-30 minutes online trying to get tickets. And just as an example of what I mean - we managed to get through for Springsteen last weekend for both Izod shows and both MSG shows - all within 15 minutes of them going on sale. I realize we were fortunate since TM seems to have had their own issues that day, but ... the point I'm trying to make is that it was within our control and we knew within minutes what the outcome was.

So people have been getting front row seats based on seniority (at previous shows)? Isn't that a bit unfair? It sounds like the same people get to be in the front every time, as long as they stay 10c members? I don't know how many there are, but still... :?

That's not totally true... i have yet to get front row under the new rules.. I did get 5 row center for PJ20 but that's because my number is lower... I do believe older members should be rewarded more than the fan that signs up now... if that comes by way of better seats than the new guy every time, so be it... I have paid my dues for almost 20 years i should have seniority... sorry, you signed up after me... Let me tell you that paying every year wasn't the easiest thing for me to do, especially in the earlier years.. Even now it's not but I make allowances for it.. Paying my membership fee has become a bill i know i will have every January... I made that sacrifice to be diligent about remembering and not forget and save for when i needed to pay... why shouldn't i be rewarded even if just a little with seat seniority when buying tickets??... Just a old member defending us old dogs in here... :):D

I have gotten every concert I have ever tried for with the old system. I was even one of the lucky 500 fans who was able to get tickets to The Vic fan club only show in Chicago back in 2007, so by saying this I have no reason to to be against the way it worked before...but I think the lottery is a better system! The 10club managment was creative and changed things to help the fans, who seemed to be in the majority, with the fact they disliked the way the ticket setup was. People were quick to knock them when a ticket sale did not run as smoothly as everyone hoped so I think it's only fair to bust out the praise when they kick ass like they appear to have done with this new lottery. It's a proud day in the 10club headquarters!

If you beleive that rows 1,2,9,10 are randomly picked?...Well, I can tell you for certain that it isn't..

    Jeremy

    +1

there are some random but there is also some that arent random

Bingo! I have been in about 50 lotteries and never once was picked for any of them! I think they are very selective when choosing who they WANT to sit up front. I also think that the lottery is similar in that they will choose who they want to get tickets. I hope I'm wrong but it sure is frustrating to not win a lottery, ever!

    Prove me wrong.

I have proof that is rigged...I seen it with my own two eyes...The ten club won't ever admit it that isn't totally randomed.....I don't give a crap if they select who they want up front...But, I thought this lottery was for fans that don't have so great of fan club numbers...A chance to get a ticket up front....Also, don't call it totally random...When it isn't..

Small Ed theater show's, go nuts have a party with the lottery atmosphere. I can understand doing a lottery for Ed cause there is only so much seats that can go around, cause it's a small playing field. But for Pearl Jam show's, especially here in USA/CDN, for the love of god, HELL NO!!!!!!!

What Pearl Jam Co. needs to do is start searching & start playing arenas & forums across this great nation that are not run by Ticketmaster / Live Nation that can give the band more freedom to secure MORE fan club seats. Will that ever happen? Remember '95? Can they do it again? Yes it can, but they need to try it once more.

THAT is what needs to happen.

    I don't like the lottery because it's a lottery.
I think they should release the tickets in different times/days for different countries/states depending on where they play.
For example; The tickets for Stockholm, Oslo and Copenhagen should be released for fans from these three countries 1 day ahead of the rest of the world 10C members.
I know fans here who waited for 12 years (last time PJ played here) and didn't get tickets and with a lottery their chances isn't better. It's better to let fans in the same country/state to try get tickets first for a limited time.
    -95, Stockholm (MirrorBall Tour)
    -00, Stockholm
    -07, Copenhagen
    -09, Berlin
    -10, Berlin
    -11, East Troy 1+2
-12, Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen, EV London 2
    -13, London, Chicago
-14, Amsterdam 1+2, Berlin, Stockholm, Oslo
    -16, TOTD San Francisco 1+2
    -17, EV Amsterdam 2+3
    -18, Amsterdam 1+2, London 1+(2), Barcelona, London 2
    -19, EV Brussels

Soooo.... Nobody from Europe should have been given the chance for PJ20 tickets?
Or MSG? Or the Philly 4?

    I don't think that's a good solution...

I think this lottery is more fair than the other way which gives the advantage to people who can spend a day off of work or to people who know little computer tricks.

are u oblivious to the fact that some lottery winners(row 1,2,9,10) and signed box set winners were not random?
    just curious
Tell me, who is the 10C targeting, in your opinion, when they give out the signed box sets? What proof do you have?
And so you see, I have come to doubt

Ok, spill it. Your response seems to indicate that this is common knowledge, so tell those of us who are oblivious how this is not random?
  • Lotto fine for Ed shows and special shows. Keep it same for regular shows. But make improvements on server or what not.
    Just, not enough.
    I need more.
    Nothing seems to satisfy.
I said, I dont want it.
    I just need it.

everyone can see that lottery is better system..the one says the opposite dont want to see it,try to find arguments that arent there,or have tricks to always score with the previous system..

Dimitrispearljam, this is how I feel too.

    Hi,

I don't care if I ever win the lottery rows...I have a pretty good fan club number...So, I usually get pretty good seats....All it comes down to...Is that it supposed to be random lottery winners for row 1,2,9,10....Which this isn't happening.....If the 10c wants to hand pick people for front row?...So be it....But don't come out and say it is totally random....The lottery is supposed to help fan clujb members with not such great numbers...So, they can have a chance to be close...
