exactly like the lottery for rows 1,2,9 and 10 and for signed box sets and...some of those "wins" are NOT random...sorry to burst your bubble people!!!
i dont understand why people support a system that is torture to score tix..
Control. Crossing your fingers for a lottery is aggravating, hammering away on the Pearl Jam site is aggravating, and dealing with a big TM onsale is aggravating. I'd rather deal with whatever aggravation allows me an advantage based on determination. I can certainly understand why others would prefer a lottery, though.
ill give u an exable..
i went to an internet cafe for europe presale.they have great speed internet connection..the plan was to buy berlin and stocholm, and my friend Eva and ticket buddy to buy oslo and copenhagen and we change spares..
i use chrome..i finnish in 20 seconds the 2 shows..
Eva was in Libanon for work..she need 5 min to open her mail acount, cos internet there is like a turtle.
she didnt score and after an hour she text me..
i log in,i bought the other 2 shows in 1 minute..
we both ,me and Eva,pays 50$ membership...we must have the same chances, and not where will be our location the moment of the presale..not what internet connection, she isnt lazy..she was at her computer for 8 hours for Alpine...she didnt score, was at livanon again,i was at super high speed internet connection, scored in 4 hours..
with lottery?we both enter for for prague and berlin 2..took us 1-2 minutes..i did it late night, she at morning, when we had free time for do it..no pressure..

Because lotteries lack transparency. You have no idea how it is that tickets are being allocated. Is it truly random? You will never really know.
It is the same with the lottery rows.....We all know it isn't random winners?....How do you know that when you do purchase tickets online that your getting the row/seats you should be provided with?.....We don't know...
Being suspicious like this is SO negative! Why are you assuming they aren't doing this in a fair way?
I think this lottery is more fair than the other way which gives the advantage to people who can spend a day off of work or to people who know little computer tricks.
i dont understand why people support a system that is torture to score tix..

so with f5 system who secure that there isnt a program that block you and allow me to enter??
who secure that there are nt applications for people sneaky score tix..?
how scalpers take with ticketmaster the best seats in the house?
lets say both isnt fair, and both have tricks..
1 minute time to spent is better than hours of f5

I guess my larger point is the silliness of the fake concern about "what is best for everyone." I prefer a system that gives me the best chance at scoring tickets, you prefer the system that gives you the best chance at scoring tickets. Totally cool, but let's all just admit that.[/quote]
The 10c is a fan club....Every member should have a fair chance to purchase tickets....When this isn't provided?....There needs to be a change.....Unless the 10c can come up with a better online ticket process?....That wouldn't crash nearly everytime during ticket purchase time....As of right now the lottery is the best option imo....Everyone has their own opinion..
sorry to the 3% of people who put in for tickets and missed out but i'm sure you will get into whatever show you were trying for.
I'm guessing you got tickets huh? I would rather F5. I have always had good luck before. Vic, Alpine Valley, you name it

are u oblivious to the fact that some lottery winners(row 1,2,9,10) and signed box set winners were not random?
just curious
the only problem i would have with it would be the fact that i can't really afford to go travelling like some of the others on hear, so i usually only go for 1 show, so if i didn't win the lottery for that show, i'd have to try my luck through general sale or hope for a spare. otherwise i wouldn't get to go.

If demand is gonna exceed supply, I'd rather effort vs. chance be the x factor in ultimately determining who gets their pairs.
I'm in this camp But I'm viewing the lottery slightly more favourably now than I was before since it seems that most people are getting tickets anyway and it's nice to see all the happy posts! I still like the idea of having control (or the semblance of control). I don't like the one show rule, though, it makes limits my ability for prioritizing shows I want to go to.
I've been able to snag tickets for most of the times I've tried through the 10c f5 clusterfuck. I'm also fortunate in that most of the time I can plan around ticket sales. I feel that what's more "fair" is subjective.
At the end of the day, it is what it is and I will get tickets however 10c wants me to. If that fails, I'll get it another way. We all need challenges in life. Builds character

Totally agree with you that the Ten Club should be concerned with fairness. I'm talking about us as fan club members and the motives for which system we support. In my opinion, it's a fairer system to give people a small hand in their own fate. However, I completely understand if you believe the opposite. It will be interesting to see how all this shakes out for the next Pearl Jam US tour.
I have to say that it did make it easier.. we did have to wait an extra day but I think this idea is sound...
Only change I would make would be, once they receive all entries, they should sell by seniority, then use the random 1-2 rows and 9-10 rows for seat choice... That would make it somewhat fair and no overload on the servers ... It may take a bit longer to get thru the process but I know that a good software program would help things out with work... Now, I know that some of you new members might say that this isn't fair to you because even though you get your email in, you still may not get a ticket... I know that something could be worked out to guarantee everyone that is a member that wants a ticket can get one...
I may not have thought this through enough and I am sure someone will come in here and start flame throwing about it is logistically impossible for this to work, but I think throwing ideas out there is the way to improve the process... it is evident that the way we had to get PJ20 tickets IS NOT the way to go!!! :P

I don't think this is a fair statement. Just because we don't agree, doesn't make me unenlightened. laid out my reasons and there are other people who agree, although I'd say it's clearly a minority. I don't have any tricks; my computer is 2 years old and I have a regular broadband internet connection. During the last few US presales, I've hammered away, sometimes for as much as 45 minutes to an hour before eventually scoring tickets. When I visit the forum afterward, I see an avalanche of people who chose to spend their time complaining about the process while I was abusing my keyboard. Give me that slight advantage every time vs. crossing my fingers with a lottery.

I think Tim already said the one show limit is only for EV. As for most people getting tickets, thats is great, but lets not forget where these shows are. The demand for all of the Texas shows combined is probably less than one show in NYC, Boston, Chicago, etc.

That is why i think that email purchase system should be tweaked a bit... but it is better than having to press the F5 button so much that the print on the key starts fading... Example is what if we can't wait by the computer at a certain time and date.. but we had, at our leisure any time within a week to request tickets... that alone would eliminate a lot of headache and frustration...

So people have been getting front row seats based on seniority (at previous shows)? Isn't that a bit unfair? It sounds like the same people get to be in the front every time, as long as they stay 10c members? I don't know how many there are, but still... :?
Well, at least they don't have those fucking "golden circles" etc where you have to pay hundreds of dollars/euros to get anywhere near the front....
