Bear w/me as i am not a fan of country music (at all). For whatever reason I was thinking about a few PJ songs that had that country vibe going and would resonate w/our nashville music friends

i got a couple that could be 'done', and others could elipse the standard acoustic song...

off he goes
thumbing my way
the end

any contributions?

I hate country, thus, most of these songs. Oh and that harmonica kills (in a bad way) Footsteps on the Lost Dogs version.

Sorry dude, daughter is 1 of 12 perfect tracks on Vs.

I remember hearing 1/2 Full back in '08 at Bonnaroo, and it was the only part of Pearl Jam's set that I stood still for. 3rd row and standing still doesn't work at 'roo, but it needed to happen

    You sir, are clearly insane.

As for this thread ... I get what you're going for, but none of these songs would pass for what qualifies for country music these days.

Oh and the first 13 or so seconds of Force of Nature sucks too before the song gets awesome. The original poster is dead on...there are a bunch of songs in the catalog that makes me feel "country." I hate that feeling. Gross.

i feel sort of dirty, i viewed a different version of sugarland's performance and when the crowd kicked in on the chorus, i got tingles. that SHOULD ONLY happen for PJ but that is the power of betterman i guess...

I would love to hear a "pickin' on pj" album like the bluegrass tribute to phish and grateful dead. Not radio country though. I want flatpicking mike solos, mandolin, banjo and fiddle.

Pearl Jam has country songs only if you think all it takes to be a country song is acoustic guitar. The problem with country music isn't acoustic guitar. It is, in general, stupid lyrics. Which isn't a Pearl Jam problem.

And today's country music isn't country music at all. It's pop music with a funny accent. And, again, stupid lyrics.

I think some of Pearl Jam's music is simply Americana music which has lots of acoustic guitars and is singer song writer based. The distinction for me is that PJ has no Blue Grass based music as some true American Country music has.

Think --- The Band and Wilco vs. Hank Williams and Roy Clark. All 4 are great in their own right, PJ could easily do the Band and Wilco, they would have trouble with Hank Williams and Roy Clark.

In Houston '00, Ed did dedicate Off He Goes to "all you Hank Williams fans -- Jr or Sr. But this one's more Sr."
