Not mandatory, but definitely encouraged.

10 club Fan Seat it Forward program:

What the hell is this?
Do you remember the first time you had awesome seats at a PJ show? Remember how that show changed your life? Or maybe you have always had great seats to a PJ show. Now is your chance to give back. Have you seen every PJ/EV show from rows 1-20 on the floor since 1998? Have you been to more than 2 EV shows on this tour? Trade your seats with non suspecting 10 club fans that have different seats the night of the show. Just trade them their ten club seats for yours. Share your experience. Seat it forward.

Why?
Because there is nothing better than watching fellow clubbers getting to check out their favorite band up close and personal. Not only that, but you will get to hang out with different PJ fans in different sections, and create new friendships that otherwise would have never been. Who knows, you made trade your awesome seats to your future girlfriend/boyfriend, or wife/husband. These people will remember you and your act of kindness forever. Plus you may find the best "pass the joint" section ever.

Whats the point of this?
To give everyone a taste of the wine bottle that goes around one 10 club fan at a time. Great seats are great, but great fans is what seperates us from all the others.

Whats the catch?
No catch, just good karma, and giving a non suspecting 10 club fan a better Pearl Jam concert experience. Plus instead of bragging about how rad YOUR seats were, you can brag about how you made SOMEONE else's seats 10 times better.

Be a better person, a better fan, Seat it forward.

(Don't worry, you are still a rad human being even if you don't participate in this.)

Amazing idea.... I applaud you.

I am not sure how much interest you will get though (we'll see). I for one have never sat at a PJ concert, always standing. I'd like to start something similar like "let the people at the back stand at the front".. or something like that! ;)

I'm down to trade with a solo attendee to PJ20.

I have RES/GA seats for PJ20, and I'll trade one RES ticket for Sunday for a RES ticket for Saturday - no matter the 10c number. and hell, I might just give away my lawn seats as well (no idea why I'll need them).

PM me if interested. my 10c # is 265k

I could see doing this. Great idea. But, I sometimes have a single 10C seat available that I'd like to give someone for free, preferably a fellow 10C'er. I call it "smiling on someone." Only stipulation I have is that the lucky recipient has to pass through the gate with me so I know the ticket doesn't get scalped.

Anyway, how do we find the other pair to swap with and/or to "smile upon" someone?

    Peace.

Oh shit, I thought it was mandatory.

Cute idea I guess for those people who go to every show of every tour to spread the Jam. At this point and since 2006, I think I'm gonna average about one show every 5 years :( ...so I'm gonna have to keep my tickets. But cool idea nonetheless.

And you never know about the "meeting your future wife or husband..." I originally met my wife because she was a Pearl Jam fan... and that was all I knew about her originally, until we got to know each other!

I love this idea! Of course, I'd be a potential recipient so I am biased : ) It speaks really highly of the 10C members that there is generally such a giving nature here ... there's very little disdain for fans who happen to be younger, or newer to PJ, or who, like me, grew away from how much they meant to me at a point in time 20 years ago.

I joined 10C this year after seeing PJ at JazzFest last year and realizing that I was crazy for never having seen them live before. I started revisiting albums and songs I'd missed, like Binaural which I am now addicted to (apparently I am one of 3 people who thinks Sleight of Hand is brilliant); bootlegs that have blown my mind; and Eddie's solo work (Into the Wild came out at another inflection point in my life and sucked me in, but I still didn't "get" how truly amazing an artist he is until more recently). I pored over your recommendations and your stories and your photos and they have contributed greatly to my renewed love for (read: obsession with) PJ.

Back to the "seat it forward" concept: I was desperate to see EV when he came to the Beacon - I would have been thrilled to be anywhere in the building. Through the forum I had the good fortune to meet claystation and his wife, who gave me loge tickets (not 10C tix, but same spirit). They turned out to be incredible people who I count as friends now, along with others I met that night. The show was incredible; I don't have better words for it right now. After quite a night out, I lost my new EV hoodie ... no worries, Radioactive_Toy to the rescue; he didn't hesitate to pick me up one in SB after I posted here.

This is all a long-winded way to say that I've been completely amazed by the community on this forum ... really good, gracious and fun music lovers from what I can tell, and all following Ed's encouragement to "take care of each other."

I know that there are more people like me who would be really humbled by the generosity of someone giving them a chance to be a little closer to the band. I hope to be in a position to do the same one day ;) In the meantime, I am so excited for Toronto (night 2 secured thru 10C; confident that night 1 tix will come my way somehow!) - it feels like I'm heading to see friends I've not met yet.

While I am in 100% support of this, I can't see many people doing it . . . I would LOVE to be a recipient of someone trading with me, as I am generally the equivalent of 30 rows back from the stage, whether it be on the floor or up the sides . . . I literally dream of being front row at a Pearl Jam show and pray that one day I am close to the stage . . . I got close in 1998 in Barrie, but didn't really appreciate it back then (plus I was drunk at it was GA) . . . .

I would probably vomit if I saw that I won the lottery and would be forever grateful if a fellow 10C'er was willing to trade with me. Anyone? Toronto #1 or Ottawa in September? ;);););)

This is a great idea, however, I doubt many people would be willing to do such a thing, maybe I'm wrong. I've been to 31 PJ shows and have a decent club #211xxx so I've had some great seats but have only been in the top ten rows 5 times, I'm not complaining but it seems like the last few years I've been screwed, never able to get fan club tickets so I end up getting them through ticketmaster or live nation and paying up the ass for nose bleed seats! I have GA tickets through live nation to PJ2:( You would think after spending 15 hours and taking two days off trying to get tickets through the ten club you'd eventually get them! Not the case here.lol. I can't even count the number of days I've taken off to try to get PJ tickets and 75 percent of the time I'm unsuccessful. I guess my point is when Ten club tickets aren't as easy to get anymore, its unlikely people will be willing to do a good deed and part with them. Having said that Pearl jam fans are amazing and generous and some people have and will continue to help out fellow PJ fans! I've seen many gracious acts involving fans and thats why in the past I have given many spare tickets to complete strangers for free (We've all seen them, guys outside the venue with huge signs explaining how bad they need to see the show and how far they traveled). I'm from Maine I know the feeling of traveling thousands of miles to see these guys! I had luxury box seats to Philly 3 2009 and extra fan club tickets which came up as 2nd row lottery winners so I gave two random guys who had traveled from Boston and didn't have tickets a pair of luxury club seats with a private bathroom and unlimited free beer and food. I was a little bummed since I'd never been in a luxury suite but christ I got to sit second row and have Mike throw me a shirt!!!Plus I made those two guys night! I'd rather help out a fellow jammers and make a few friends versus selling the tickets and making a few hundred bucks! Great original post!!! See you all at PJ20!

I've never been close. Every time I go to the 10C will call I pray for lottery but it hasn't happened. It's OK. I have faith that I'll make it up there one day! Each tour I get little bit closer...hoping PJ20 will be the closest yet. Reserved seats on Saturday!

hmmm...sorry for going off topic as well but...

I have usually been able to get fan club tix without too much aggravation I've only been to 14 or 15 shows, but I've never been in the first 5 rows...the first 10 or even 20 rows for that matter. My number is #218xxx...but I see you joined in '08 while I joined in '03...so I'm curious as to how your number is lower than mine. Is that date just when you joined the pit...or when you actually joined the fan club? (directed to comatose BTW)

Thanks for clarifying...in fact I did just check and saw that I joined the club in January '03, but apparently not the board until August. I thought it was at the same time :)

That is a really cool idea! I don't know how many would actually participate in it, but it really is an amazing idea. As someone with a very high 10c number who has only seen the band twice, I know if someday I got to be in the first few rows (sans the lottery, if I am ever so lucky) it would be a night that I would never ever forget and something that would mean so much to me!

had a few people interested but nothing concrete.

If you have a PJ20/reserved extra for Saturday, I'll trade you my extra reserved on Sunday

My number is 265xxx, your number can be anything. Gives us 2x the chances to win the lottery for good seats.
If you got a lower number and looking for an expo pass, maybe we can work on something.

Looking for someone who'll be at the venue Saturday when the gates open so we can trade early in the day. I'll be in the area on Friday night to avoid traffic from Chicago for the weekend.

    PM me if interested.

I did this (kind of)! I had four tickets - two 10C tickets, and I bought two ticketmaster tickets also. My bro and I planned to use whichever seats were best and his two friends bailed out on the concert. So, I sent him up to the top balcony, last row, and he asked two people if they wanted to come down in the floor and sit half way back (no charge, of course! and it was a small venue, Fabulous Fox Theater in St Louis). He said the looks on their faces were priceless. My only regret is that I could not be sure of getting the tix to 10C members. Anyway, it was a fun thing to do.

Well that didn't quite work out as planned...
You know, when the person with the higher number HITS THE LOTTERY AND WE SAT 10TH ROW TONIGHT.
    :D

That's some good karma I wasn't expecting. Awesome show tonight.
