Recommendations for Toronto hotel.

My wife and I will be traveling to Toronto for the Sept. 11th show. We've never been to Toronto before and are looking for some hotel ideas. We will be spending the weekend there and would like to be close to all the touristy (word?) things there. Hockey hall of fame is on the top of our (my) list of things to see. Anyone got any ideas?

Any hotel that suits your fancy will be good. Downtown Toronto is very walkable and transit friendly, so you will be close to everything. So use cost and star number as your guide. But book soon, the film festival is on, and rooms will be at a premium.
This sidewalk is for regular walking, not for fancy walking!

Ugh.... I'll be in Toronto, but I will have absolutely no part of Leaf Nation. You people make me sick.

Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.

We were on a budget when we went to Toronto in 2005. Stayed at Hotel Victoria. It's old and the rooms are small, but can't beat the location. I had no problems with it at all. Walking distance to everything, Hockey Hall of Fame right around the corner. No pool or anything but I remember it being a total steal on the pocketbook.
The place was full of Pearl Jam peeps.
Thank you fellow 10 clubber for saving my ass....again!!!

I live downtown and any of those places mentioned above are good suggestions because they are close to both the Air Canada Centre and the Hockey Hall of Fame.

I'm not exactly sure what your price point is but I thought I would mention a few places near by:

The Renaissance Hotel in the Rogers Centre where the Toronto Blue Jays play.
The Radisson Hotel on the Queen's Quay on the habourfront.
    The InterContinental on Front Street
The Fairmont Royal York on Front Street across from Union Station
...and if you feel dangerous, stay at the Waverley Hotel on Spadina. I think it might be a pay by the half hour sort of place.

    Safe travels.

The Waverly? Really? wow... didn't think anyone would go there... why don't you just tell him to sleep in Nathan Phillips Square, or Saint James Square?
