SELLING 10C/PUBLIC TIX ON DAY OF SHOW

edited May 2011 in The Porch
I actually bought 2 tickets to Ottawa through the public sale just now. Section 109, right beside the stage on Mikey's side. I did it because chances are good that, with my 10C tickets, I'll be either 25-30 rows back on the floor, or up the sides and further away than the tickets i just bought and I wanted a backup plan

My plan is to pick up my 10C tix on the day of the show as early as possible, and if I deem them not as good as the ones I just bought (section 109), then I will sell my 10C tix (for face value of course), or sell my pubic sale tix if I like my 10C tix.

Has anyone had to do this in the past? It should be easy to sell tickets on the day of the show, right? What would be my best approach? Post online? Wait until close to show time and try to sell them at the show?

This is not a thread intended to find buyers (necessarily), it's just to gain some information at the moment.

Sounds like a good plan for you and a way to help another member at the show who may not have tickets. As long as you pay face you are doing nothing wrong in my book other than sharing.

So you will definitely have an extra pair? I would try to find a buyer ahead of time (probably someone on this message board) and just tell them you don't know exactly where the seats will be but that they WILL be in the building. And as long as you're selling them for face value, it shouldn't be too difficult to find someone.

Those aren't bad tickets. Chances are you'll find people looking for a pair at the venue and as long as you're selling for face, they should sell.

That said, it is Ottawa, capital city of lackluster concertgoers (who aren't 10C). ;)

Yes, I will definitely have an extra pair. Unless I find some friends who want some. But you make a good point. I should probably line up a buyer regardless and just let them know I don't know where the seats will be then sell them to them at the venue on the day of the show. And not to worry, I didn't do this to make any money off them, they will be sold at (or even a bit below if I get desperate :)) face value!

Okay, that calms me down a bit. I was actually a bit anxious after I hit "buy" on the public sale site :)

If anyone IS interested, just keep your eyes peeled and I'll keep you updated over the next few weeks as to my plan . . . . I do know of a few friends who were trying for tickets today, so I may have to give them first dibs if they got shut out.....

Have been side-stage many times, and front row side-stage once in Newfoundland and once last year in Hartford, and have thoroughly enjoyed it every time!

Cool. They are pretty much right BESIDE the stage. Section 109 Row N (14 rows up). here is a link to the seating chart

    https://ev9.evenue.net/evenue/linkID=ottawa/core/seating_charts.html#12

So perhaps, unless I win the lottery, I should take these for myself?

The best part about Row N is that that section definitely doesn't start at Row A. Those will be very close. I'd try to find a very detailed seating chart to find out for sure.

Don't want to get your hopes up or anything, but those may be alot less than 14 rows back. That particular corner section extends further out for sporting events, but with concerts they collapse it back to create room for the stage and equipment. Again, this is typical of US arenas, I don't know if Canadian arenas are different somehow.

Those are good seats...i was about 5 rows back in section 115 (Stone side) for the 05 Ottawa show and those tickets are amazing.

Typically my 10C tickets (to the Canadian shows) are one section over from side stage which i love...i'm just crossing my fingers i dont end up on the floor (since i'd likely be at the back) this time around.

    I'm 345xxx and I was section 105 about 7-8 rows up in 2005 (see seating chart: http://ev9.evenue.net/evenue/linkID=ottawa/core/seating_charts.html#12).

I'm usually the equivalent of about 30 rows back in terms of distance from the stage. I was on the floor in Kitchener '05 and it sorta sucked. In Toronto '09 I was in the middle section (202) row N (again, I think that was about 25-30 total rows back). So I am expecting much of the same this time around, which is why I now have (what sounds like) these awesome tickets as backup.

Those seats you just bought will almost definitely be better then your 10 club seats barring a lottery win.

That's what I'm starting to think! And now I am excited that I have tickets to fall back on if (but more likely "when") I don't win the lottery and find that I am 30 rows back on the floor!

Which again makes me wonder why that section (and its equivalents) was not part of the 10C allotment?

Don't want to get your hopes up or anything, but those may be alot less than 14 rows back. That particular corner section extends further out for sporting events, but with concerts they collapse it back to create room for the stage and equipment. Again, this is typical of US arenas, I don't know if Canadian arenas are different somehow.

Shit. You're right. That may be the case. Looking like these may be mine to keep unless I win the lottery!

Out of curiosity, whats your 10C # and where were you in 05?

In Ottawa in 05, I was side stage 15 rows up. 306 xxx I'll be looking for a ticket for Toronto 1, so hopefully my PJ karma pulls through for me.
This sidewalk is for regular walking, not for fancy walking!

I'm guessing even with a high number like 345xxx, you have a good chance of getting awesome tickets. Apparently, the 10 club presale did not sell out, and the show in 2005 was nowhere near sold out.

They weren't really good seats, I've had a VERY mixed bag of 10C seats...been to 33 shows and it seems to be hit of miss with my seats for some reason...

My buddy had 216xxx at Ottawa and was side stage about 20 rows back and up one row...these were without a doubt better seats than mine (plus Mike walked down the isle and shredded the end of the Alive solo DIRECTLY in front of him)

I have hated him ever since. :D

See that's what i'm afraid of...i'm 277xxx, so you technically have a better # than i do, however i'd much rather have those side stage seats.

So here's a question for you all . . . I'm assuming if I win the lottery I will keep my 10C tix, even if it's row 9 or 10? There's no way Mikey side stage tickets would be better than row 9 or 10 right?

I've been in that situation several times and it's always been a pain in the ass. Like others have said, find someone ahead of time to sell them to. But I've been screwed doing that too.

I've had deals made with people (from this board) to meet me for the tickets before the show and in the mean time other offers from people at the pre-parties but didn't sell them cause I promised them to someone else. Then they never showed up to buy them and I had to scramble to get them sold.

It really takes away from enjoying the pre-show parties.
    Like a word misplaced...nothing said...what a waste
