In order to keep my sanity regarding PJ20 etc, I've revived my love for the Pumpkins... now I may be misinformed or out of the loop - but will they tour/play any shows in the next couple years? Anyone have any news or leads? I frequent Grungereport.net but I haven't read anything there.. hoping someone knows something .. let us know!

They arn't touring now, until a few whilst. They played USA loads the last 2/3 years or so!! Waiting for them to come to Europe which Billy said maybe in the fall.
  • Their last European tour was fucking awful. I'm a bit of a Pumpkins veteren, having seen them on every Australian tour (Adelaide 1994, Adelaide 1996, Melbourne 1998) and whilst the 1994 and 1996 shows were amazing, 1998 was still great, the 2008 show in Dublin was fucking woeful. Long guitar/drum wankfests during nearly every song...it was 3 hours of audio torture. Never again.

My advice: keep your 1990's Pumpkins gig memories pure and fucking forget about seeing them live now. Sure, there's only Billy left in the band anyway. The rest are blow-ins. If you go see them live next time, and you hate it, don't say I didn't warn you.
    My Pearl Jam shows: 1 in 1995, 2 in 1998, 20 in 2003, 13 in 2006, 3 in 2007, 8 in 2008, 5 in 2009, 4 in 2010, 5 in 2012. EV: 8 in 2011, 1 in 2012. Brad: 1 in 1998, 1 in 2002.

I love the Pumpkins and always will.
Is it so wrong to think that love can keep us safe?

Mike is a bloody amazing drummer, who would have thought you could get someone like Jimmy. They totally tear up Gossamer.

The Dublin 2008 show had Jimmy Chamberlin drumming.

Sorry but I have to agree with Radallanddarcy.
I saw them in Adelaide 2000 and something, might have been 2005??? :?
I really like their music, Melancholy is one of my fav albums but Billy is such a wank that it ruined it for me. I have to agree too that the drum solo/long guitar solos through every song was a bit much. I don't deny that he's an awesome drummer and that Billy is talented but they did go overboard. That's just my opinion though mate, you should go see them if you haven't before. You might really enjoy it, just wasn't MY thing. :)

It was 2009, I think, just after the 2008 European tour. My mate was at the Adelaide show, and after doing an informal Dublin vs. Adelaide comparison, we came to the conclusion that Dublin had a longer set, but the songs were much more wanky in Dublin. Adelaide got a more concise/less jammed out set, and from the sounds of it was probably a better gig for it. "A better gig" isn't really saying much though, is it?

They are coming to Sunfest in West Palm Beach Florida this year. I was just wondering if anyone has seen them live lately and what their lineup consists of.
