Top 5 Artists

edited April 2011 in Other Music
I have a week off, so i've been catching up on some tunes. Since i've been so productive with my time (beer, chips, movies), I decided to create a playlist of my top 5 artists that was based on song count. For example:
#1- PJ (213 songs, don't laugh:( )
#2- NIN (110)
#3- Nirvana (90)
#4- Joy Division (77)
#5- Afghan Whigs (71)
#5- Filter (71)
So who are your top 5 artists by song count?

I only have PJ on my computer and that's up to about 450 "unique" songs. Have been meaning to put in all the side projects, too...

The longer you're on this forum, the faster you'll expand your musical horizons. it just happens. Enjoy the side projects though, because they're pretty good.

Haha, I also have about 200 records and 600 CDs, so I think I'm pretty well expanded. ;)

    3. My Morning Jacket - 461

Out of a total 8,513 songs on my ipod:

    1. U2 - 2,909 (2,515 are from live bootlegs)
    2. Pearl Jam - 2,346 (2,077 are from live bootlegs)
    3. Green Day - 218
    4. Bruce Springsteen - 175
    5. Linkin Park - 150
    6. Kings of Leon - 136
    7. Metallica - 125
    8. Red Hot Chili Peppers - 122
    9. Smashing Pumpkins - 119
    10. Foo Fighters - 105

Very interesting. I knew Pearl Jam and U2 would be the most as I have a lot of bootlegs of them. Most of the top are bands that I have bootlegs, that really drives the count up.

Would be interesting to see the standings based on unique songs or just studio albums, I think my ranking would be about the same anyway.

is there a way to sort this out in itunes or do you have to first guess which bands you think has the greatest number of songs.

    Pearl Jam
    Phish
    Miles Davis
    Rush
    The Beatles

(but #5 could be: Jane's Addiction, Primus, Hendrix, Zep, Floyd, Satriani or a few other bands)

Place Oasis between the Beatles and Radiohead, and cut the amount of songs in half, and you've got mine.
