I usually skip it, but I'm listening to the reissue. I forgot how f'd up this song is.

I guess it may have something to do with being a parent and being a little older, but...this shit creeps me out more now than ever...

Lyrics:
Don't you want people to love you
My spanking that's the only thing I want so much
Spanking that's the only thing I want so much
That's the only thing I want so much
Don't you want people to love you
My spanking that's the only thing I want so much
That's the only thing I want so much
Why is that better than being hugged
Why is that better than being hugged
Because you get closer to the person
Closer to the person
Why is that better than being hugged
Because you get closer to the person
Closer to the person
Just like a person having sex feels cared for
We wanna be loved so we have sex together
And they feel loved about that
And this is the way it makes me feel loved
I want it I dream about it I think about it I want it
Just like a girl wants sex with a boy you know
It's the way I'll always be probably
My last one was born in the system
See they're stupid very stupid those people over there
They're stupid
These people are so below mentality honest to God really
You know what I mean he got the nerve to bug me (x2)
This mentality honest to God really
You know what I mean he got the nerve to bug me
Honest to God really
You know what I mean he got the nerve to bug me
Bug me bug me he got the nerve to bug me
Everything seems so eight ball (x2)
And I I don't know if that's my imagination but umm
Hey foxymophandlemama that's me
And I don't know if that's my imagination but umm
Hey foxymophandlemama that's me (x2)
Think they got me
Hey foxymophandlemama that's me hmm
Hey foxymophandlemama that's me
Know if that's my imagination but umm
Hey foxymophandlemama that's me
She prides herself on her cleaning habits (x2)
Hey foxymophandlemama that's me
She prides herself on her cleaning habits (x2)
It's a lovely stupid mop it is
There's something really screwey about no streaking
Is it any old dumb mop It streaks
Come on mop no streaking mop
I don't mind mop the floor my mop streaks I don't like it
It's not me it's the mop
Come I bought some new mops
Go away you stupid dumb old sponge mop
I don't believe it now the floor looks beautiful (x2)
I don't believe it old sponge mop
Dumb old sponge mop (x2)
Old sponge mop dumb old sponge mop
You're right this mop's stupid
Dumb old sponge mop
I don't believe it now the floor looks beautiful
That's why they call me mophandlemama
Now the floor looks beautiful
That's why they call me mophandlemama (x3)
In two weeks before she could see herself not dressed
The twenty-third of May you know she disturbed no one today
The manager told her to completely forget
If you ever go to bed I'll kill you
Do I tell the whole world that I'm mentally ill
Go to the papers yeah why not
Drum roll
I want to show them that I can walk on my own without hands of theirs
And I can still fantasize but I keep it to myself
Keep it to myself keep it to myself
I think I deserve to be loved don't you
Very much so
Think I deserve to be loved
Keep it to myself keep it to myself
I think I deserve to be loved don't you
To be loved don't you
But I keep it to myself
Keep it to myself keep it to myself
I think I deserve to be loved don't you
And I can still fantasize but I keep it to myself
Keep it to myselfkeep it to myself
I think I deserve to be loved don't you
Very much so
Do you ever think that you would actually really kill yourself
Well if I have thought about it real uhh real deep
Yeas I believe I would
I have thought about it real uhh real deep
Yes I believe I would
And I can still fantasize but I keep it to myself
Keep it to myself keep it to myself
That I can walk without hands of theirs
And I can still fantasize but I keep it to myself
Keep it to myself keep it to myself
I think I deserve to be loved don't you
Very much so
Do you ever think that you actually would kill yourself
Well if I have thought about it real uhh real deep
Yeas I believe I would

  • freaks me out. the first time i heard it I was like

but I don't mind it as much, when I'm in the mood to listen to some wierd stuff

I've always wondered, is it a real girl talking? Like a real recording? Or was it made for this?
    Seems real to me

I actually really like it. Always on my playlist. My kids ask me to skip it sometimes because it's long.

Agreed. The jam towards the end of the song is pretty cool.

Yeah...they did a great job on the song. CREEPY AS F!

I'm wondering how he/they stumbled upon that recording?

I wanna say the dudes over at TSIS used to have info on this. I think...back, roughly...7-8 years ago, their site was much different. The had a FAQs section. I'll dig around and see what I can find later...

I think I once stumbled onto the page you're talking about (or one like it) and I facebook messaged the guy who ran the page to see if he had any leads to the original source of the mental patient interview but he didn't. It's funny that the mental patient probably has no idea that she contributed lead vocals to one of the greatest rock albums of all time.

That is the one pearl jam song I can't listen to, it seriously freaks me out. It took me a really long time to even get through the whole thing. The first time I heard it I was shocked it was on a pearl jam album, it always reminded me of something I would expect to hear on a marilyn manson album - which i wold never buy.

The hardest question for me to answer is "what's your favorite pearl jam song?" - but always easy to say which is the one I like least... cause that song is creeeeeepy! :-o

the jam is awesome... I discovered when finally lost the fear to past 1 min of the song, now I'm not afraid anymore  actually enjoy repeating the stuff the children, woman or alien is saying...

wish we can have some input from the band members about this track... what were they thinking or smoking???

hearing all those people sing along with Eddie made me happy
    it was lovely
and then the Stupid Mop tag - first time I've heard that live before

Sounded very eerie and spooky still, but more humanified (is that a word?)
More normal, more relatable. Less like the ramblings of a psychiatric patient.

I love stupid mop !! I've tried to stop listening after Immortality before. Never managed. I HAVE to listen right until the end of foxy. Vitalogy would not be Vitalogy without foxy and aye davanita and pry, to.
I may have gone directly to this song on a few occasions. I may even have listened to it several times in a row. :?

*sigh* to hear it live ... just once....even as a tag (but a bit longer than the daughter tag though) *sigh*

Yeah, that would be definitely cool 8-)

I remember listening to this song for the first time...I was home from college for Thanksgiving break... I bought it on vinyl since they released it on vinyl before cd/tape. My parents' record player was in the basement..I sat down there by myself intently listening to each song...when Hey Foxymophandlemoma That's Me came on,it definitely gave me goosebumps...jack's intense drumming combined with the recording of foxymop and me sitting in the basement alone...I was creeped out and intrigued at the same time.
Show #13 was a lucky one for me....

Is it just me, or is there some girl in that crowd that can REALLY sing!

From some reason I cannot get through the song. It's a little to artsy for me. Kind of like Salvador Dali paintings. Some I really love and other I'm like no thanks. I will not put that on my wall.
  • i was obsessing over this song yesterday...some good articles here:

    http://www.theskyiscrape.com/2011/04/gu ... y-and.html

this guy's interpretations are a pretty good read....some more stuff here:

    http://forums.theskyiscrape.com/viewtop ... =1&t=94391

might be old news but yeah...i listened to the whole song again yesterday and read the words along with it....probably the first time i REALLY paid attention to what was being said...things must have been pretty bad around that time...tragedy breeds great art i guess.

What the fuck? You were shocked to hear it on a Pearl Jam album? What does that mean? You would expect Manson to talk about mental illness awareness and not Pearl Jam?

I imagine the stigma of mental illness is alive and well as from the comments above. How fucking sad the world does not see it as a sickness. Not something creepy. It's a real disease.

Choke on it a bit more and maybe you might understand. :x
