For the next album: Bring Stone back to the mic!

Seriously! I know many of you think both of his lead vocal performances on PJ songs are not really good, but I love them! I think one of his contributions could have easily fitted on Backspacer. You know, the goofy, punky songs with the kick-ass riffs...

I wouldn't complain. Oh how I would just die if I heard Mankind live just once.

Kick Ass riffs - YES! Great voice - YES! ...but I think the lyrics should be left mainly to Ed. "Mankind" is a great song, but the lyrics and content of the song always seemed underdeveloped, same with "Don't Gimme no Lip" I still get embarrassed for Stone when I hear: "I'll be playing with my magazine, Usin' up my listerine, Like ovaltine" - From "Mankind" ...I mean what's that about? it's just amateur song writing if you ask me!

The song is obivously not supposed to be taken seriously. So I dont htink that matters.

Personally, I think they should give Matt the mic for a song. And have it be a slightly psychadelic, odd time song that he wrote with Mike allover it.

You're a band with Eddie Vedder in it. And you pass the lead vocals over to one of your guitarists...

    Really?

They already made that mistake before. I'm hoping they don't repeat it again. Here's to hoping that they let everyone off the leash in the roles they excel at. Let Mike tear things up. Let Stone work out some great guitar work. Let Matt wow us instead of keep the beat. Let Eddie unleash what makes his vocals so unique and not have him just sing a song. Let Jeff's bass be heard and push him to make some basslines that lead the song somewhere again, instead of just following the song. That's what I'm hoping for from the next album. ;) And Boom... well, you can get in there somewhere too if you must. Brendan, stay away from trying to be a band member, please.

I don't mind. I just hope though he brings back some heavy guitar riffs on the new record.

This 100% makes absolute sense. Pearl Jam take note.

Back to Stone singing...he bad thing is when he then sings live we have to put up with 5 minues of Stone mumbling something or other as way of a introduction and then when the song has finished Stone mumbling through "yeah that was pretty bad, we didn't rehearse it" goofy-ness for a few more minutes. But you can't deny the catchiness of Don't Gimme No Lip ha ha ha ha :D

Please, no. Saw Mankind at MSG last year and it sort of killed the momentum of the show (for one song, at least). It's one of those things where its funny and unique on a bootleg you get, but you get sort of pissed when they play it live. No offense to Stone, of course...he should just save his genius for the guitar.

Just remember who's band it is. An amateur? Sure thing.

And Stone mumbling? I think you have him mistaken with someone else in the band.

Neither is Rival... I love that song. "Better pony up, bring both your barrelfuls, not one" That's my favorite line this week anyway  I don't like it when he sings though, I always skip Mankind and Don't Give me No Lip, they're just awful. However, if you put him and Eddie together, you get magic.

I LOVE Don't Gimmie No Lip
it's fun and goofy and great fun to play along to on guitar

Stone writes some great lyrics, Thin Air, Of The Girl, Rival, No Way, All Those Yesterdays to name some of my favourites
and we all know how great his riffs are

but Eddie's voice is what makes PJ, PJ. And while I love Stone's voice on one or two (lesser played) songs, what we get from him is enough, just right. IMO
let's keep stone away from the mic, but close to a pen so he can write more of his lyrics to accompany his amazing riffs

The fuck Eddie part was a joke.. But would really love to see Stone sing more. I think it just mixes it up a little for me. Instead of Eddie 99.9% of the time.

Stone has written some of PJ's best songs and Bayleaf was a good side project. I would like him to sing on another album but something of a more serious note rather than a bit of fun. Albums are once in a blue moon so putting goofy filler songs on doesn't please most fans. Matt could do something too, he's an amazing songwriter and his Riot Act demos were really good. I think the next album will be more creative than Backspacer but still with a fun vibe. Hoping so anyway.... :)
