Yeah, but I wouldn't say he was anything special in Inception. I think he was more of an "actor" in Shutter Island. If he was to be nominated for anything, he shouldve been nominated for Revolutonary Road whenever that came out. Now there's a depressing movie.

What, are you kidding me? Geeeeet outta here. There's some really solid movies on there - 127 hours, Black Swan, Inception, True Grit, Winter's Bone, King's Speech. Get out there and see 'em, baby. I mean smoking baby.

i saw inception and true grit.

inception was a long drawn out cluster. lets do this, ok. now lets take anouther nap and do that. ok. now lets go do this and that. it was an ok movie, but not oscar worthy.

true grit was a better. it was predictable in you had a good idea of what was going to happen. the acting and script carried the movie. bridges deserves teh oscar nomination, however, once again, i don't think it's an oscar level movie.

i'd take Inglourious Basterds over any of this years movies.

What's with you and bad comedy movies?:lol:

81, see Winter's Bone, and Black Swan for the Portman/Kunis action alone. Neither is like Inglorious Basterds though...

Wow, I really didn't see hardly any movies last year. I barely recognize the nominated titles...

Surprisingly there's been more movies that I wanted to see this year than in a while. See Winter's Bone, man, I think that's up your alley. A lot of shirts with wolves on them.

Big shout out to Jennifer Lawrence for best actress. She's from here-Louisville, Ky. I know she probably won't win (Natalie Portman)but she was great in Winter's Bone.

True Grit is based on the book, not a retelling of the first movie adaptation.

I'm not going to act like I know, but I'm sure it's not far off. And I've seen the original and apparently it's different from that. I'm going to see it Friday. I'm banking on it to be good solely on it being the Coens' and my man crush on Jeff Bridges.

I agree about the web, but this movie combines ballet with lez sex, thus = art, and not creepy internet!

Can't wait til they come out/i go see them
I think Natalie Portman deserves her nomination, saw Black Swan. A film of extremes, her acting was very good.
Oscar worthy? I'm not sure, haven't seen the others to be honest

    Best Picture
"Inception," Emma Thomas and Christopher Nolan, Producers

I have not seen Toy Story 3 or Social Network (hope to see that one soon) so out of the others which i've seen i'll take Inception. It was my favorite and i think worthy of best

    Actor in a Leading Role
Colin Firth in "The King's Speech"

I have not seen Biutiful and that is a damn shame i want to see it really bad i hear Javier is awesome in it. I also have not seen the social network. As much as i liked Jeff Bridges in True GRit I'm going to lean towards Colin Firth here. He was very good. BUT Javier might have him if he is as good as others say!

    Actor in a Supporting Role
    Christian Bale in "The Fighter"

I’ve seen them all and I have not doubt Bale was the best! He nailed it. If he doesn’t win I’d be upset!

    Actress in a Leading Role
    Natalie Portman in "Black Swan"

This is a tough category. I’ve seen them all here too and it comes down to Jennifer Lawrence in Winters Bone and Portman in Black Swan. I’m going to give the edge to portman. All the ladies did good nominated though.

    Actress in a Supporting Role
    Melissa Leo in "The Fighter"

I did not see animal kingdom but out of all the others I’ll go with Melissa Leo she was pretty good.

    Art Direction
    "Alice in Wonderland"

I did not see harry potter but Alice in Wonderland looked good if nothing else.

    Cinematography
    "Black Swan," Matthew Libatique

Wow what a tough one. Again still haven’t seen SN but True Grit, Black Swan and Inception were all very well done. I think I’m going with Black Swan here.

    Directing
    "Black Swan," Darren Aronofsky

Darren is the man unless social network can prove otherwise.

    Writing (Adapted Screenplay)
"127 Hours," Screenplay by Danny Boyle & Simon Beaufoy

I went with 127 hours here because they I thought the concept would be hard to make into a movie and they pulled it off well. 127 hours was a great movie to watch.

    Writing (Original Screenplay)
    "Inception," Written by Christopher Nolan

I did not see another year, but of the others Inception was bad ass. Surely it has to win right?

That’s what I would vote for!
    Charlotte 00
    Charlotte 03
    Asheville 04
    Atlanta 12
    Greenville 16, Columbia 16
    Seattle 18
    Nashville 22

Leo should have won for Blood Diamond a couple of years ago.
  • Inception would be my choice for best picture but I think the Social Network will win it. Saying that however I have yet to see The Fighter and True Grit (due to them not being released here yet) and Winters Bone. Toy Story 3 is great but not Oscar winner I don't think. If that did win it it would be a 'Return of the king' where it is given for the whole series rather then the film itself.

Colin Firth will win his oscar I think.
