Not that it was a contest, but just having watched the whole show again, it is amazing to see how much better PJ is than any of their contemporaries. They are just in a world apart on their good nights such as that one. 2 songs and the roof was blown off...

Their performance of The Real Me is better than any performance anywhere, any when, even by the Who.. They just rocked the shit out of it. Definitely one of my favorites.

not even close to be better then the who. jeff's bass line was decent at best. if the ox were around he woulda shitted on it. not a knock on jeff at all but the ox just owns it. the real me is the bass line

i was at the who rock honors on and pearl jam by far blew everyone away

    pearl jam
    incbus
    foo fighters
    the flaming lips

thats the order i'd rank the acts
Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight
    Sammi: Wanna just break up?

i was not there but my rankings would be the same. flaming lips all but sucked and i think dave grohl was sick
Entwistle IS the shaman of the bass guitar and
jeff may not have been able to play wide open, what with an orchestra and all
the real me rocked and from now on it will be an ed song to me.
fuck 'em if they can't take a joke

    Right on.

I love The WHO as much as anyone...

However...I have no problem saying that Pearl Jam's version of "Love Reign O'er Me" on this night is hands down the greatest performance of this song that I've ever heard.

Eddie's voice was just so powerful...to say that he nailed it...is a vast understatement...HE OWNED IT!!!

I'm so glad that this was recored and taped, because this was easily one of the definative vocal performances of Eddie Vedder's life...

Roger & Pete must have been really proud!!!

Well stated, my friend. The only sad part was seeing how diminished Roger's range has become after 45 (?) years of hardcore singing. It makes me appreciate Eddie's vocals that much more today, and I hope he continues for many years to come. Love...was quite simply the most moving song I've seen them perform.

The Real Me was solid, but as Metsfan said, The Ox owns it. His bass line is by far the sickest I've heard in any rock song...but Jeff did play it very well.

Order of performances is well critiqued, although I'd have to put the Foos ahead of Incubus. Great tribute show all around.

I was there and I didn't think incubus was that great.
Wayne Coyne's bubble crowd walk was was fun.
You are totally overlooking Tenacious D's version of Squeeze Box

i loved incubus alot. drummer had that moon sound going on. yes i totally forgot bout TD's version of squeeze box.

i loved being there alot but felt it coulda been more of a concert. woulda liked to heard all the bands do 5-6 songs and have vh1 pick the best 2 outta each set. things felt rushed a bit.
