This was such a great show. First off, I am happy to be writing a fanview so soon after the show, as Ed mentioned, this was their first show in Columbus in 7 years, which is nice since I live here. Maybe I shouldnt have looked at what they soundchecked earlier, as Oceans didnt totally surprise me, but I had never seen it before, and I kind of never thought I would since they usually play that song near..ya know... the Ocean. Another first for me was Alone, which was also an awesome song to finally see. The other two songs I had never seen before (not counting Backspacer) were Marker in the Sand and Come Back. Man, Come Back was intense, Ed spoke about Brian Shaefer and said some very kind words about his family and girlfriend, and then played such a good version of a song I really wanted to see. Defintley a highlight.

I was also excited they only played one cover, and Crazy Mary is about as close as you can come to a cover that isn't really one. Black was also phenonmenal, and I know people say this all the time, but the version of Alive was maybe my favorite ever.

Let me try and think of some other notes... During an extended intro to Faithfull, Ed talked about how the first time they played Columbus was in 1992 at the Newport Music Hall, and how it probably wouldnt even fit the fans in the front row of tonights show, adding that they played 10 songs that night, and they were going to play "at least two more tonight" (this was before the 6th song, what a jokester.)

Ed made many mentions of the great crowd, and early in the set said that even though it was the 3rd or 4th show of the tour, the bar was being raised already. Great crowd, it really was. (side not, fuck all the people who said they shouldnt play shows in places like this. Was it a sellout? no, but it was fairly close, and I know people in Chicago and New York and Boston and Philly think they are the only ones who can show PJ a good time, but Columbus no doubt proved tonight that the little guys can rise to the occasion as well.)

Before Marker in the Sand Ed talked about it being National Prayer Day (sarcasm audible) and he talked about how on the bus ride over they were thinking about applying to the goverment for Pearl Jam to be a religion, and it was apparently Stone's idea. There is one comandment "don't be an asshole" (I believe) and one rule, "no twitter, i fucking hate that shit" is I believe what Ed said.

State of Love and Trust was for Cincinnati Reds pitcher Broson Arroyo who was side stage.

  • what to say....out of 16 shows, i realized this is only the second one for me that didn't involve out-of-town travel. I live in c-bus, but the first time i saw them here in '98 i didn't live here at the time. last time in c-bus was in 2003, which was my least favorite PJ show i've ever been to. so i didn't know what to expect.

    ALONE
    COME BACK
    MARKER IN THE SAND
    CRAZY MARY
    OCEANS - OPENER

other than crazy mary, this was my first time seeing all of these, and only my second time seeing CM. awesome! energy was high. not a complete sell out, but it seemed very close, and what may have lacked in attendance was made up for in positive vibes and energy. awesome power in the band's performance tonight. eddie gave a great little speech about PJ applying to the gov't for the band to become an officially recognized religion, with Stone as the Jesus figure. great show, lots of fun. see you all in Noblesville and Cleveland!!

Not surprised. Mike threw about a hundred picks out throughout the night. Also, I meant to mention, that during one of the songs, the Even Flow solo maybe, Ed went side stage to smoke a cigarette, and then chucked his lighter way deep up in the side stage section to a fan who was also smoking, which of course is illegal in buildings around here.

Mike played before BOH, around 7:18 or so. Ed came out with Mike and introduced him. Ed did not sing any songs with BOH in Columbus and I don't think he has at the othe shows.

Great show. I've been waiting so long for oceans and never thought they would play it in Columbus of all places. Only 6 songs left on the list of album songs to see live. So thankful I picked this as my only show this tour. Great crowd too. Been to a lot of shows now and this was one of the better crowds I've been a part of even beating out some of the final spectrum crowds. The band responded too although at times it seemed a little rushed. Really seemed like they wold have went on anoter set if they could have. Coming into this show, for the first time, I was having a hard time getting myself pumped especially after having gone through the epic spectrum shows not too long ago. I'm so glad I went to this show though. It was a good one.

Dude, I'm Greg, the guy that sat next to you at the pub before the show I bet. Glad to see my buddy was right before the show when he told you where he thought your seats were. I was 30 rows back on the floor, but I saw everything just fine. My voice is gone, nothing left. Amazing, amazing show. So fortunate to see a special setlist like it was.

They started around 8:50 and ended shortly after 11. Maybe 11:07? Pretty typical in length I think and 27 songs? That may even be slightly above average?
