Santa Cruz - lyrics?

Anyone know the correct lyrics to the song Santa Cruz (10C holiday single 2008).. I couldn't find them...

I listened through the song several times to write down the lyrics myself, but I'm not sure about some of the lines.. :? :)

This is what I came up with... (don't kill me if I've misheard something)
the lines i'm not sure about are marked with red..

heading south the compass reads
look at our speed.. we're going sixty three
look out the window as the trees go green
i look at them and they look at me
got Neil Young on a stereo
he comes along whenever i go

something different as i hear him now
heading south on off familiar route
i can feel the lifting of my blues
i can see you at the horizon new
i got the feeling i just cant lose
pulling into santa cruz.. yeaah

i got an old friend he remembers me
from way back when we were seventeen
we got kids and we're older now
but when i see him we're still seventeen
i need the beach to set me free
i need the wind to make me breathe
i need the water to wash my soul
i need my loved ones to let me go

i can feel the lifting of my blues
i can see you at the horizon new
i got the feeling that i just cant lose
pulling into santa cruz..
yeaahh.. oh yeah..

up in the north west we got it good
a little soggy but we've got it good
can't help thinkin that i wish i would
move my ass down to santa cruz
i got the feeling that i just cant lose
pulling into santa cruz
i gotta feeling that i just cant lose
pulling into santa cruz
i gotta feeling i don't wanna lose
pulling into the cruz
i gotta feeling that i just cant lose
pulling into santa cruz... yeaaahh
yeaahh.. yeah.. yeaahhhh
ahhh.. ahaahh....

I first heard this as "horizon new".. or "horizon noon" -- "rising moon"? .... I dont know
"at the rising noon"?

What do you think?
It's a great song, I'm completely in love with it! :)
Won't let the light escape from me.
Won't let the darkness swallow me.

    compass reads is correct.

On the other one I think it's "horizons new" ... but I'm not 100 percent.

A better question ... anybody know the guitar chords?
everybody wants the most they can possibly get
for the least they could possibly do

Okay I switched it back to "horizon new"... :)
.... that's what I heard the first time around... :P I'd really love to know what he really says...
( Ed? You here? Time to tell! ;) )
I love to sing a long to this song... I just don't want to sing the wrong lyrics..

I'll work on it when it shows up in Canada - since I'm getting a new cartridge for my turntable, I decided I won't simply download the tracks as I have for past holiday singles.

I thought the cut off was Sept., but somebody said Dec. 31, so I'm not too sure.

I've figured it out already. I can tell you the chords, unless that will ruin things for you ;)

  • Anybody know if Santa Cruz has been performed live anywhere yet? Living only 30 miles from Santa Cruz and spending a good amount of each summer there at the beach it would make my day to hear it live. I thought they might do it in San Francisco, but no such luck.

Oh, it's definitely “the wide horizon looms.”

Heard it last year at Santa Cruz Civic for Eddie's April Fools Tour. He followed it with teasing that he really, really should move here for awhile. One can wish...

If anyone knows where I can get a recording of the show, I'd be so grateful. He played an amazing version of "Arc" that I really, really want to hear again. If heaven has a melody, I believe that that piece is what it must sound like.

    Necropost.

    Apple Music thinks it's:

I mean, this *is* Eddie we're talking about.
