Ed solo tour - opening: Liam Finn

Set List (unconfirmed): Don't Be Shy (Cat Stevens), Brain Damage (Pink Floyd)/Sometimes, Girl From the North Country (Bob Dylan), Betterman (Lullabye Version), Untitled->Gone, No Ceiling, Rise, Far Behind, Guaranteed, Driftin', Millworker (James Taylor), You've Got to Hide Your Love Away (Beatles), I Won't Back Down (Tom Petty), Small Town, Bobby Jean (Bruce Springsteen), Wishlist, Porch

Slight tweak.... "I Won't Back Down" was then followed by "Bobby Jean". I am 100% positive about this.

Got back from ATL at 2:30 in the morning, so I'm still a bit loopy right now. Last night's show was my 5th of this tour, and it was probably my favorite setlist, if only because it was so unusual. In fact, I think the setlists for the 2 ATL shows were my favorite -- they hit all the hit notes.

I have to ask, though -- WHO ARE THOSE PEOPLE?! You know the type of people I'm talking about: the guy behind me was the guy Ed kept calling an asshole for howling literally the whole night long. The girl next to me showed up 45 minutes late, then text-messaged the ENTIRE rest of the show. (And I could tell she liked the band, since she would get excited for PJ songs -- so WHY was her texting so critical for that last hour of the show?!) The foursome in front of me talked the whole time because, as one loudly explained to her friend, ""she didn't know the songs." Look, I'm not the concert police, but I fundamentally do not understand these people. These were good seats -- fanclub range -- so who are these people who pay $90+ dollars for a ticket for a show they find so uninteresting that they can't be bothered to stop talking about a yeast infection (swear to God this came up in one nearby conversation) to just listen to the amazing music? It made me alternately sad and Jeff Tweedy levels of annoyed.

Well, in spite of these fucks (to use Eddie's word of the night) I think this tour was wonderful. I'm not sure there are words to describe how I loved this concert series, and I know I'll be going through withdrawals soon.

He played Betterman on the Uke.

i think it was a classical guitar -- those are smaller than a standard acoustic. ukes have 4 strings, that had 6

no big deal, but it was a mandolin. i sat behind the sound booth and they had it labeled for sound purposes. it was f-in beautiful regardless!

the mandolin came out later in the show -- it has 8 strings and is much smaller and rounder, not with that hourglass shape like most guitars and ukes. Agreed though -- kickass no matter the instrument!

Yes, that Untitled, the one that most frequently was paired with MFC.

I thought he was a lot more animated and the jumping over the feet chair was classic. Especially when he busted his ass the first time.
oh god, that was soooo funny!! he did redeem himself coming back on stage by perfectly leaping into the chair and puffing on that cigarette like he was soo coool. haha. liam's leap wasn't quite as graceful. 7 out of 10

Yeah he pulled that off pretty well I thought!

Maybe they haven't played atlanta since O3 because they haven't toured the South since 03.. if you say they could have played here in 08.. they couldn't because of the contract with Roo. Then in 06 when they didn't hit the South i'm pretty sure their explanations made sense. They will be back to the South within the year.. Eddie says how much he LOVES nashville and they have only played there 3 times in nearly 20 years[/quote]

when did eddie say how much he loves nashville, do you mean like this week on tour?

..and did anybody meet eddie in atlanta either night, before/after the shows outside or wherever?

met him after the show night 1. there is a youtube video up now. the girl filming was to my right. when eddie got to me i said, "thank you for the daniel johnston cover tonight." then my girlfriend shook his hand and blurted out, "we're from texas!" to which he replied, " great.. i'm not!"

i will never forget that night :)

i thought about waiting outside for night two but didn't. i had my moment the night before. not sure if he ended up coming out. no one has mentioned anything yet.

he is such a sweet guy doing that for his fans

That was one of the best moments of my life!!! My legs were shaking when Jessie said he would come out and shake our hand, specially since he didn't have to being that it was a gated venue and all.
It was worth every single second of waiting outside :D I'm glad you got to meet him too! :)

FANTASTIC show. I was talking to Andrew (who was nice enough to get me his spare 10C ticket) before the main set and mentioning how much I've loved seeing Springsteen's shows in the last year or so... So for Ed to pull out "Bobby Jean" for the first time ever... That was the highlight of my night. (With MANY other highlights right behind.)

One favor: Can we edit the top post to spell "Springsteen" correctly?

And is 10C gonna start selling the shows once the tour wraps up? Do we need to start a petition or somethin??

Amazing show! Thanks so much for coming to ATL! I tried Columbia last year but couldn't make it (baby almost came early!).

My wife and I commented that the acoustics at the Energy Center were amazing and Ed's voice has never sounded better. Loved the covers, especially Till All the Rivers Run Dry, Bobby Jean, Golden State, and Don't Be Shy!

A few loud people, including one completely smashed person wondering "why didn't Eddie fuckin' rock?" Guess he missed the bulletin on the acoustic setting. All in all though it seemed like a great crowd, not the best, but pretty good.

The End sounded great. Can't wait for the studio, full band version!

    PJ come back to ATL!
