What red wine label does Eddie fancy?

So, I was doing a web-search for red wines, since I am lover of reds myself..I came across this site that had this question...What red wine does Eddie Vedder drink? The writer was so interested because he had been getting lot's of people asking this question on these different wines sites.

We all know that Eddie loves red wine, but does anyone know what labels he enjoys most? I know some of you must have gotten close enough to see his bottle on stage, or have had the luck to be given his empty at a show!

Just curious to see if anyone knows! Thanks!

  • i remember hearing what it was...but the name never stuck cause i'm a minor and i really don't know the names of them...but i do have an eddie wine story

maybe some people in this forum might be able to help actually

at the first MSG 08 show i noticed some people in the front row (over on the right side) give offer eddie their beer (or a sip of it) and then eddie went to get his wine bottle and poured some of it in their beer cups...and then i think he gave the bottle to another fan who didn't have a beer cup to sip straight from the bottle...he gave it back to ed...i think it was during porch...that was a kick ass show

I don't know if it's accurate or not, but it's what I found on google.

    Hi There,

I love reds and was very curious about this as well.

I saw that reference to Siduri, i will have to try it.

I believe Ed enjoys the Flowers Pinot Noir also. Flowers is a boutique vineyard in the extreme Sonoma, their wine is incredible however very expensive. I ordered 6 bottles shipped to my residence last year and was amazed at the construction and flavors. I think the cost was $45/bottle which is way over my typical price range. There were a few different Flowers vintages that Ed was into, one of which was rare and only 20 or so cases we made. Ed always would take delivery with the bottles unmarked, Flowers apparently had a few that depicted hand written messages with a gold marker, not certain why but I recall seeign them on stage and in photos during the '06 tour. What is clear is he prefers California Pinot and probably has a number of different vinyards & vintages he is into like most of us who enjoy wine. I also suspect he is very particular with what he drinks, albiet - Ed's not the type to reveal the particulars or even acknowledge he borders on being a wine snob.

That was the Siduri Van de Kamp Pinot Noir...he talks about it in Rolling Stone (2006)....picked up a bottle of the marketed varietal (2003 vintage) in 2006...haven't uncorked it yet...

  • Just to clarify, EV took the Siduri Van der Kamp Pinot on tour with him in 06. It is the bottle on the cover of the Rolling Stone. Adam Lee, the winemaker, makes mention of it on his web site. You can buy the wine (not with the same hand written message of course) on Siduri's site as well. It is great juice. I actually have a pic of EV pouring my wine on stage in Santa Barbara to the front row, but only because I sent a case of wine backstage with some friends at the LA shows.

type in PINOT NOIR VAN DER KAMP VINEYARD. Don't know if its the exact bottle. It don't give the year.
  • While watching the Touring Van, http://touringvan.com/movie.html, documentary, there was one fan with a bottle given to him by eddie from the show. The bottle he had was Vasse Felix 1997, which is from the Margaret River wine region. This region was mentioned in the previous post by alexander supertramp and the old post given by jeffbr, but not the specific brand. I think this bottle is also in the $40 range.
  • Flowers. Private stock made just for Ed.

As a Somm, I have been wondering this for some time. Always thought it was Siduri but there's some bottle pictures I was shown from the NA tour this year and it shows him drinking JC Josh Cab (like $10-15 a bottle), and a $40 Barolo. Crazy variation in what he enjoys!

He had an Engine House 25 Franco Harris 2009 Chianti in Pittsburgh. I wasn't close enough in Baltimore or Charlottesville to see what he had there.

One of the bottles he shared in Baltimore had a 21 on the label. There's a 21 Cellars in Tacoma, WA. Maybe from there?
