I loved it when it came out, but after getting all my boots and absolutely loving the faster versions....I find it hard to sit through the cd version...anyone have a preference or maybe find themselves not listening to a studio version of a certain song because the live version blows it away?

  • I definitely prefer the faster live versions.

Zagreb '06 = best version ever.

I disagree - I think it's too fast live. Same with WWS. Life Wasted is better live, IMO.
  • Torino '06 replaced the Pearl Jam studio album for me. It's way better sped up.

that's happened with many of the studio songs for me, but then you begin to appreciate the subtilties of their studio work. it's win / win

  • Most of Avocado is like that for me. Something about the recording made a lot of great songs, fairly lifeless.

    I'm with you on that.....

After a year and a half I still cant put my finger on why that album no longer excites me :(

I find the songs great, so I listen to it. But the production is pretty conservative.

I think production-wise it should sound like Vitalogy.

I'm with you on that one. I remember listening to the studio version of it last month and I was like...wow, live is SO much better.

And I loved the studio track!

I'm sorry guys but the BEST version of Severed Hand is the Reading Festival 2006 gig. Come on - the best vibe, amazing quality boot. "You'll see dragons after 3 or 4, i said FUCK YEAAAAHHHHHHHH"

it's so true, especially the drums/hi-hat sound

kind of reminds me of the difference between that old iron maiden stuff & the 'live after death' album

That's one of the reasons LAII'06 is my favorite version. :D

About the only thing I like better on the studio version is that dive bomb sound at the solo that they can't replicate live.

i agree that live it's way better.it's that moment right before the solo at the end hits and everyone just nails it and you realize how tight they are.pretty awesome.my best version would go to newcastle.love the ed intro instead of the pre-taped part from the cd.

I really like the snl verison. The tempo is somewhere in between the studio and the fast live show versions, and its just perfect!
    I will swallow poison
  • I really prefer the studio version compared to live.

I love the album version's intro, and how the guitars seemingly explode from your speakers at the very beginning. Plus Mike's solo on the album is better than any version I've heard live.
  • Zagreb 06 is the best version I've heard....Although they really started to nail this song in Europe, and then ofcourse Australia..

I still like it on the album as well, yes you need to get used to it being slower, but the vocals on the bridge are better, and you get that wild McCready solo at the end...

    Either way
