I agree. Bon Jovi was my first favorite band back in 8th grade or so, so they have a big sentimental/guilty-pleasure aspect for me. Of course now I'll admit that 90% of their catalogue blows, but honestly there are a bunch of individual songs that demonstrate some great songwriting. But nobody's heard most of those.

    Yeah, totally.

I just think These Days stands a mile apart from all their other work, yet noone ever mentions it, despite it being such a good record.

The Pixies are way better than Sonic Youth

Robert Plant ego it's way too bigggg. Play a few fuckin' concerts and then retire if you want

Vedder was an secret admirer of cobain

Nobody have the sound of Smashing Pumpkins on 90's

I like to listen really loud the song Talk of Coldplay ''yeah the kraftwerk sinth cover''

People take Tool WAY too seriously.
RATM is boring, as are Morello and his silly solos.
Kid A is an amazing record, if you dig the concept.
Nirvana deserves all the praise it gets.
Nirvana deserves all the hate it gets.

Hope Sandoval is the best female vocalist from the 90's.

Nine Inch Nails best album was The Fragile.

Smashing Pumpkins best album was Adore.

Prodigy's video for Smack My Bitch Up is the best video ever.

    Tool's 10,000 Days was a huge disappoinment.

Jerry Cantrell sang to much in AIC when Layne was alive.

the funny thing about this thread is not what opinions people have, but how everyone seems to differ on what "unfashionable" is.

Here's another one. Janis Joplin sounded like a fucking cement mixer.

haha I just saw this one. I've always thought this!

Dude, I'm with you. These Days is really good stuff. Probably mostly insincere, but still really good stuff. Ah... it feels good to finally let that out. :D

Nick Cave is the most relevant frontman in Rock 'n Roll today, the greatest songwriter of his time as well.

Grinderman was one of the more exciting releases of 2007.

Dream Theater are techically excellent but ironically that makes their music boring.

    Living Colour are severely underrated.

Madonna is most overrated female singer of all time.

RHCP are terrible live, yet they got some awards for best live band.

Bob Dylan can't really sing but I love listening to him.

Smak (Serbian rock band) are way better than Deep Purple.

Artists are always more appreciated when they're quiet, passive and distant = dead.
The worst enemies of music? Money and Mathematics. Combined with music, they both do the exact opposite of what they're supposed to do. Money makes music cheap, mathematics makes it stupid and predictable.

Bruce Springsteen isn't "The Boss", just annoying

Alice in Chains unplugged blows Nirvanas out of the water

Dave Matthews Band is good, and not just for frat boy assholes

Flea is not the best bassist in the world, Les Claypool could dominate him

I throughly enjoy Jack Johnson and am not a stoner, or a girl

Phish's breakup is one of the saddest moments of musical history

MTV and hair metal are two of the worst things to happen to music

And it was stated before, but:
    AIC without Layne isn't AIC
Blind Melon without Shannon isn't Blind Melon
The Grateful Dead without Jerry don't even deserve to be called The Dead
    etc, etc

the exceptions being that G&R without Slash and with Buckethead was cooler, and Oasis without Liam for their Unplugged was crazy amazing
My god its been so long, never dreamed we'd return.

    you're really wrong here IMO.
    Springsteen is the fucking man.
i love AIC unplugged but Nirvana's is better.
    Dave Matthews sucks
    Jack Johnson sucks.
    Phish sucks.

you are right about AIC without Layne is not AIC though.

EDIT: just read some more of this thread.... didn't realize what it was at first. no offense.

I agree about AIC unplugged and that AIC w/o Layne is not AIC.

I'm not a Jack Johnson guy, but can understand that people dig him.

Way off on Springstenn though! Bruce rules!

    most double albums SUCK

also, the RHCP haven't gone downhill. RHCP have NEVER made a consistently good album and the only reason people say they suck NOW is becos they are so prominent people will actually listen to their mediocre albums instead of just hearing the good singles they used to know.

Yeah but you have to remember that Pearl Jam only had one album at the time. They really need to do a new one.

they did. it's called live at benaroya hall ;)

also, number of albums had nothing to do with it. nirvana didn't play many more original songs than pearl jam did. 6 outta 14 songs were covers. the difference was nirvana was a totally different sound. it stripped away the famous distortion and gave people a whole new look at nirvana and allowed the songwriting and kurt's emotion to shine. pearl jam played their songs pretty much the same. they did show they were the real deal and could play and their music had more than arena bombast, but their unplugged wasn't the totally fresh look at the band nirvana's was.

Actually the number of albums thing was more in relation to the progression the band has made. Nirvana had been a band much longer than Pearl Jam had at that point.

Hmm, you may have a point about Benaroya, although you could argue that it didn't really give a full overview of their musical career, i.e not so much of their earlier stuff.
