i can't get past his voice, they keep on running this advertisement on VH1 with a preview to his music and a brief interview. he sounds like a cartoon character to me, like he should be saying "I like to smurf this song papa smurf!"

I much prefer aqualung for soothing nice sunday morning music if that's what I am looking for.

im not being harsh, rap is talentless and stupid. it USED to be good back in the days when it meant something (NWA,Public Enemy) nowadays its all about "i go to dis club, i fuck dis bick i fuck dat ho, i aint givin no dolla dolla bill yall, i go my glock yo, nod ya head" oh and they rip off classic songs
say what you will, he's right.

but there is still great rap music being produced...

it's just that the VAST majority of it won't be played on the radio or found on fuse or mtv...

you won't hear it on the radio... you won't hear it anywhere you go...

another thread got me thinking about wilco :)

i don't have much of an opinion on Blunt right now... he doesn't bother me becuase i live in the US and don't have to put up with him being forced down my throat i guess.
Come on pilgrim you know he loves you..

hate this man...in fact i hate the whole boom of singersongwriters...its really annoying...Damien Rice just does my head in now...and other of his ilk that followed on his coat tails...fucking shite...i like a decent snger/songwriter....Dylan,Young,Parsons...Ryan Adams..Chris Cornell's solo album, written and performed as a singer/songwriter is miles better than any of the tripe that clogs up the airwaves these days.

I can't be arsed to delve into James Blunt, but kind of touching on the 'rap' thing, has anyone heard The Go! Team?

Now THESE guys are interesting. There's talent there..
Situations get fucked up and turned around sooner or later...

This board has so many people that don't know what the fuck they are talking about when it comes to rap or non-90's music. Just because rappers talk about something you don't approve of doesn't mean they are talentless.
but they are talentless, in an ideal world eminem should be a junkie living in the sewer, he is an absolute farce who became popular because of a mere gimmick (being white)

and i can go on and on and on and on about rap and how disturbing it is

i have to agree. rappers like chuck d, tupac (when he wasnt talking about killing people) NWA and even old school guys like kurtis blow and grand master flash actualy rapped about real life and situations. the pre war black americans had the blues to get out of there troubles, 80s and 90s african americans had rap. unfortunately it is now a meaningless genre of misogynistic idiots rappin about their "ice and bitches"

3 rap songs that mean some thing - tupac shakur's "unconditional love" "dear mama" and "keep ya head up"

you guys are beingincredibly ignorant. there are plenty of rappers around today that are like that, but they aren't as marketable as the shite you see on mtv or hear on the radio. 99% of the stuff i hear on 'rock' radio sucks ass, too...so should i say rock sucks? try actually listening to something other than the radio for your representation of an entire genre

come on, the roots, company flow, el-p, aesop rock, the perceptionists....you'll never hear any of those on mainstream radio or mtv.
