so far, I think I like their last album, "Meds", better ... but, just on my first listen ....

I think I'll have to do that sometime this weekend.
I preordered the box set of this back in April. I'm surprised I didn't get an email about this. Grrrr!!!
Anyway, I hope I get mine soon. I don't remember when it said it was suppose to show up!
my girl is an absolute nut for these guys ... she preordered the box set as well ... she's hoping for that golden ticket to see them and have dinner with them .... I told her not to get her hopes up.
They have no US dates as of now ... but there's a big gap in their schedule between August and December ... maybe some US dates ... hey, maybe opening for PJ!!!

I saw them back in '06. It wasn't a bad show by any means, but it wasn't great either.
Hopefully next time I see them it will kick a little more ass!
I saw them at Coachella in 2007, they were very good ...
I saw them at the Fillmore in San Francisco in 2007 ... they blew the roof off the place, they were freakin fantastic.

Because I gots to know, Jimed14, did your girl get the boxset yet?
Mine hasn't shown up yet :(
Thorns, where you at?
My girl got an email saying her box set was held up at customs .... oy ... still not here. you?

Just got that email too.
Which is nice, because I couldn't figure out how to get a hold of anyone to ask them where my order was.
I tihnk they just shipped them out late ... and mass emailed evryone in the US ... pretty sad that the album has been out for a few weeks and the people that pre ordered it, more than likely the biggest fans, are still waiting.
They announced that they are playing a show in Mexico City in late September ... opens up some flickering hopes of some US dates in 2009, but, still not holding my breath.

The only time I saw them, which was back in '06 was like.....2-3 days after they played Mexico City. I think they were burned out from that show/the trip all the way up to Minneapolis!
they played before PJ at the reading fest in 06, and Steffan smashed his flying V at the end
the album is pretty good, not their best, but still good
I wave to all my Friends... Yeah!
+1
so is sleeping with ghosts
I wave to all my Friends... Yeah!
Eh, I never really got into Sleeping With Ghosts.
For me Black Market Music is a close second to Without You I'm Nothing. Hell, some days I'd say its tops on my list!

PLACEBO have today announced they have been forced to postpone their
forthcoming tour of North America after their lead singer, Brian Molko,
collapsed on stage at Summer Sonic Festival in Osaka, Japan.
Brian had picked up a virus in Asia which, coupled with jet lag and exhaustion,
caused the problem after the first song.
Brian is now back home in London recovering, but has been ordered by his
doctors to take a 6 week long period of rest. Regrettably therefore, the
band and management have no option but to postpone the forthcoming North
American tour.
Riverman Management commented, "This is pretty
devastating for everyone - we've only ever cancelled 3 shows in
Placebo's 14 year history, however Brian's health is paramount. Our
sincere apologies go out to Placebo's loyal American fans who have
waited a long time to see the band. We will try and do everything to
re-arrange the dates as soon as possible".
The band have had an intensive worldwide schedule this year, promoting
their 6th studio album 'Battle for the Sun', this includes 24 high
profile festival performances over the summer, an unprecedented amount
for any band in 2009.
Tickets can be refunded at the point of purchase.
Please keep checking PLACEBOWORLD.co.uk for any additional information.
