I have three or four of his albums but for some reason they never grabbed me when i listened. one day i'll have to go back and give them another shot

Probably my favorite current musician. Each album is a departure from the previous. His early solo stuff is that swingy, Squirrel Nut Zippers (he played with them) stuff. Not my favorite. Then it went kindy gypsy folk. Now? I don't know what you compare it to. The guy is a sick talent on the violin, in voice, guitar, glockenspiel. And NO ONE whistles that well. You should see him live too. The looping will blow your mind.

I think Mysterious Production of Eggs is my favorite, and probably a good place to start. My ranking of the albums (not including EPs):
    Mysterious Production of Eggs
    Weather Systems
    Noble Beast
    Armchair Apocrypha
    The Swimming Hour
    Thrills/Oh, The Grandeur/Music of Hair

i've been a fan for along time.

more of a fan of his bowl of fire years than the last few solo releases. but its all pretty good.
the live shows now dont compair to the bowl of fire years. they just smoked back then. was hoping he'd get the band back together now that he can afford it, but i guess its not in the cards.
