A Letter from Trent:

This is for something important. Eric De La Cruz is dying and needs a heart transplant. He keeps getting turned down for a transplant list because he's on Nevada Medicaid, and there are no transplant centers in Nevada. We want to get involved and hopefully so do you, so we're extending a hand. His sister Veronica (former Anchor and Internet Correspondent for CNN) has started a campaign to save his life.

Eric's situation shines a bright light on a broken health care system, and his particular set of problems are being addressed on the political front, aiming for reform in addition to the need for immediate financial help to keep him alive TODAY. I think we can help with the latter.

Here's what we're offering - three options:

If you have a ticket to a NIN/JA show: if you donate $1,000 to this cause, we'll invite you to come hang out with us before the NIN/JA show of your choice. You and a guest can watch soundcheck, eat dinner backstage with us, take pics / get autographs and watch the show from the side of the stage if you'd like.

If you donate $300, you and a friend can join us for soundcheck and a handshaking / hug session before doors open at the NIN/JA show of your choice.

If you do NOT have a ticket to a NIN/JA show: if you donate $1,200 to this cause, we'll invite you to come hang out with us before the NIN/JA show of your choice and provide 2 tickets (best available). You and a guest can watch soundcheck, eat dinner backstage with us, take pics / get autographs and watch the show from the side of the stage if you'd like.

100% of the money collected from this will go directly to Eric's fund.

I hope you'll consider helping out with this.

Sincerely, Trent Reznor

If Pearl Jam ever did this, there would me more people on stage than in the crowd. It'd be like an Iggy Pop show

Look at it this way though. If they did do this, we could just run up to the rail and steal front row ;)

gotta love what this band (read: trent) does for people. nin have an amazing fanbase who are supporting a good cause, and promoting awareness to a grave social issue.

Small price to pay to help save a life....especially since I thank PJ and NIN for saving mine.

i think its cooler in theory than it probably will be in real life... 1K isnt a whole lot of money to alot of people so im sure the dinner and meet session is alot less intimate than you would like... probably army mess hall style dining... that said, it IS a great cause and a stellar idea by trent... i might do the $300 thing if i can get an album signed and have a little bit of time to talk to trent and tom... dunno if its worth it if were just filed through a line, shake hands, and are on our way

You also get to go in for the soundcheck, for both NIN and SSSC - that is worth it to me. I'm planning to do it for one of the Northeast shows. I hope the national media picks up on it at one point to bring even more attention to the problem of how healthcare is distributed.

They were up to $645,990 a couple of days ago. I think, as everything this guy does, it is pretty cool.

I'm going to the Jones Beach show and won't be getting in the VIP cause I seriously shouldn't be spending that kind of money, but I'm happy for those who can. It's going to a really good place and I'm sure the experience will be worth it.

Trent is amazing. Without question the most fan oriented musician out there today. He really truly looks out for his fans. It's great to see him get involved with something like this and not only spread the word but give people incentives for helping out. REALLY good incentives. I feel as though if pearl jam donated time to people who donate to their various causes they would receive an overwhelming amount of donations/support.

agreed! pearl jam loves talking about causes but ive VERY seldomly been the least bit interested in donating myself... maybe its cause im a greedy person or maybe its just that the causes they support arent as necessary as this healthcare battle (shit like the WM3)... for as much as they talk though, id be very surprised if they dont somehow follow suit... the response to this idea has been overwhelming!

trents truly a frontrunner in every part of the industry

(cant wait to see him on friday :D)

Eric's sister posted on her website that Eric is in the hospital now until he either gets a new heart or an 'assist device' (her term), and asked if people liked, they could send card/postcards/art etc. to help decorate his room:
