Silversun Pickups; something just blew my mind

I didn't see them at Lollapalooza 07, but it was around that time I started listening to them. I really like some of their stuff. Anyways, I always thought the girl was the one signing and I just watched a Youtube video and it's just a guy with a girly voice. I don't know how I feel about that, but listening to them now seems weird to me. I was fooled for over 2 years. Crazy

hahaha. so i guess your mind wasn't blown in a good way? but yeah, that's the one thing that always turned me off about that band, the singer has kind of a wussy voice. pretty good band though.

yeah now I don't know if I like them much anymore. I always thought it was the girl signing and that made it cool, now it's just a guy with a pansy voice. I mean even going through and listening to it over, It still sounds like a girl. Like if you go to a bar and start hitting on a trani that is really a man, and someone tells you it's a man, you can normally look and see the clues like hands, adam's apple, facial hair and other things you may have missed before- that is not the case with this. I listen to hear a man and I hear a girl, even when I watch the videos on Youtube I see a man and hear a girl. It's crazy

I think he sounds like the guy from Coheed. Never once thought it was a girl.

This thread, and previous Silversun Pickups threads on the old board, are disturbing on so many levels. If you like a band, thinking the singer is a girl, then find out the singer is a guy and stop liking the band because of that, please, sterilize yourself now. Seriously. Do humanity a favor. Do you have any concept of how fucking stupid that is?

it just shook up what I thought about them. I listened to them for 3 years thinking that was a girl signing, it will take some getting used to

I have been a fan since I first heard them in 2006. It was an immediate feeling of liking the sound. Both Carnavas and the new record are great.

I really could care less if it was a guy or girl. Its great music. End of discussion

I asked this question on another Silversun Pickups thread, but got no joy!!

Any ideas what to expect from their live shows?
I've just got some tickets to see them play in Manchester in July.
Just wondering what kind of show to expect. Do the vocals work in a live setting?

I saw them once, and they were okay. A lot of the bands playing that night had sound issues, especially with vocals, so it probably isn't fair to gauge them on that performance alone. I'm sure if they're a band you're into, you'll enjoy them live.

Finally listened to their 2 albums and their EP today.

Cool stuff, interesting blend of artists. Favourite song is Ruster Wheel atm and i think Sort Of is good too.

Are they good live, going to see them monday night?

Was a really good show, lots of banter, put some kids in their place.

Great band but i didn't realise the lead singer was actually a guy, i knew there was a women in the band and i presumed she did the vocals..
