I seriously doubt it holds up to the Marhsall Mathers LP or the Slim Shady LP. I've heard a few new songs on the radio and they are not that good.

Eminem is staying true to his formula.

1st single - Crazy wacked out video making fun of celebrities

album themes - Pills, hating on mom, Christopher Reeves, death

Sounds like another solid album. But you'd think he'd change it up a little like he did w/ the Marshall Mathers LP, which IMO was a solid cohesive album.

dude, no he wasn't. nobody had any idea who he was - unless you meant god to you, while you were growing up in detroit...
but i grew up in the same area. kid rock, however, was another issue entirely. that guy was massive on the underground scene from way, way back. high school days.

His first 3 albums were great. Some really raw and angry shit. I'm really hoping he bounces back with this new album. First single is kinda catchy, but hope the whole album isnt like that.

I'm loving "relapse" so far. The song "insane" is exactly that... how can such a horrid topic be in such a catchy tune. I'm about half way through, and I'm really impressed.

I have liked Eminem since Marshal Mathers LP came out and he has delivered solid since then. The Eminem show for me is his most solid effort. Can't wait to hear the new shit. Counting the days.

i am amazed by the people saying that his single is so catchy and hope the rest of the album is not like that.

EVERY album he released has some sort of catchy poppy song that alone would be terrible but the rest of the album is normally filled with his vicious rants.

pretty much, and we made you sounds nothing like the rest of the album. he always has the stupid, silly single to get attention and get on MTV. In context, we made you fits in the record though.

Very week album by Em's standards. Slim Shady LP, MM LP, and Eminem Show were all classics. Encore was terrible and Relapse is better but not by a whole lot. I would say that there are about 4 or 5 decent tracks, 5 amusing skits, and the rest is either forgettable (hello), or just downright horrible (we made you, crack a bottle). i think one of the problems with em is that we all know he hates women. we all know he loves to fantasize about raping/murdering females, we all know he hates his mother and gay people. these themes have been played out so many times that the shock element that made his older stuff great is gone. 3am and stay wide awake are good songs but the ridiculous accent really takes away from how good they could potentially be. the only song that is on the same level as his old stuff is underground....killer track.

I agree. I heard the new album a couple days ago and that Indian sounding accent is stupid. he did it once on Encore on that Triumph the insult comic dog song and it was pretty funny. This album he uses it on numerous songs. Very lame. he needs to get more angry. Those are the good songs IMO.

    Loving this album!

I have always wondered why Eminem always rapped about killing women in odd ways. This album doesn nothing to answer my questions. Why is every song on this album about killing women? Is it supposed to be some sort of metaphor?

really? he actually uses it a lot more on encore then just that one song but only here and there on relapse

This album is a game-changer for everyone associated or in competition with the bleach-topped (former?) Dre disciple, and will certainly be remembered as Eminem’s finest moment thus far.

I like this new album and all......but how on earth can you say this is Eminem's finest hour? That's crazy talk. That's like saying Avocado is Pearl Jam's finest hour. Sure it's tolerable and doesn't suck....but it's not great by any means.
