Has anyone ever released a solo cd?

Hello everyone. I have just finished a solo cd. And I am just curious if anyone else has ever relased a solo cd. And if you have any pointers to help me get it out. One thing I will be at the Chicago show giving some away before the show. Thanks for any help.

give your local radio station a demo disc of your music with songs that are about 3-3:30 minutes long. They're not going to play anything that is longer with an unheard artist.

find a backing band and play local club shows and sell your album at the shows; give your art some value.

open up a myspace or some other social networking site for just your music.

once you find some local establishment within your community and you have a solid portfolio of work, start pitching your work to indie record labels.

How can I find you @ Chicago? I'll pick up one of your demos and pass it on to our community radio station here in SLC. They ALWAYS take anything, and will most likely play it. I've heard some pretty unknown stuff on that station.

i've recorded with a band & i'm almost finished w/ my 1st solo record as well. i can tell you from my band experience that you just need to promote, promote, promote. play shows, give some cds away, make yourself available. good luck & congrats on finishing your cd!!
