Simotaneously the greatest songwriter in history, and one of the most important poets of the 20th century.

Bono said that no matter where you are in life, there is a Dylan album that can help you map out the locale.

He seems to have been a person 20 -30 years before his time, Continually forseeing and shaping music. In 1963-64 he wrote political tunes, forshadowing the popularity of such songs in the late 1960's. In the late 60's, he wrote quiet, country-ish songs, songs about taking it easy, easy and simple living. Forshadowing both the singer songwriter 70's, and the "return to the land" political scene and music scene.

His last few albums have been as critically loved as anything he ever did in the 60's, and his touring machine seems to never stop.

He can and could write something like Masters of War, possibly the angriest antiwar tune ever, or create unreal and stirring inner reflective songs like boots of spanish leather or Girl of the North Country or Visions of Johanna

IMO, he will be remembered as the single greatest songwriter of all time.
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V

very true. Dylan is quite possibly the greatest songwriter ever. I loved his work with the Traveling Wilburys as well. Even his newer albums are good, but I don't like them as much as his popular stuff and earlier albums. The newer albums are good, but I just get a different feeling and it isn't that addiction type feeling I get from listening to "Blonde on blonde or freewheelin.
