That being said let the countdown begin until someone says it not aic with out layne, it is disrespectful without layne, theya are pissing all over their legacy without layne, it will suck without layne, they are money grubbing scumbags for doing this etc etc etc
blah blah blah.

the past two aic-'reunion' shows that i saw are the only concerts (in my opinion), to top pj shows.
This is how im looking at it, Jerry was the creative force behind the band. Layne was an amazing guy so not hoping its like aic of old.
Blasphemy.

Well it seems silly to call themselves "the random you wont know us band" so that alot of aic fans will miss them because of different commitments in their lives. For you to sit and judge them for sticking with the name is well, pathetic and short sighted.
When Jerry did his solo work, he did not have a sticker or a Header saying he was from aic.
How dare Eddie sell his tickets on the Pearl Jam forum in that case. This is a PJ fan club lol
pathetic and shorted sighted cause im disappointed they went back on their word?????? the only reason they call themselves aic is for the money. the tours they did it to honor layne by playing his songs......they cant use that excuse now.
but if jeff, stone, and mike went out on tour and called it pj that would be 100% ok??? vedder is selling the tickets as a solo show, not saying 'this is pj.' just like cantrell promoted his cardboard vampire thing on his solo site, thats fine. its a related interest. saying youre from a band is different than calling yourself the band, jerry wasnt misleading anyone. jerry could have just as easily called degradation trip aic then....he wrote some of those songs hoping layne would sing on those tracks.
i know jerry wrote almost all the early stuff, and did all the music, but still. i dont like zeppelin much but ive always respected the fact that they were a band, no one was replaceable there.
If Ed died or left the band and the rest of the guys carried on together, yes, I'd be perfectly ok with them calling it PJ. The band is Stone and Jeff's baby and they've earned the right to the name. Just like Jerry made AIC and has every right to do with the name as he pleases. And I say this as a huge fan of Layne and AIC.
Van Halen, AC/DC, Black Sabbath... all changed singers and kept the names. What's the big deal?
Thanks dude, my point, just much more to the point lol
Yeah but Dio fucking sucks!!!!!!!
to quote something famous
"What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet."
WHAAAA??!?
Well, I can't be too suprised...Dio isn't exactly an artist that has a large fan base...but by all means, the man doesn't "suck". The man is well over 60 and can still sing better than a lot of fresh musicians these days.
 \m/ <

thats not really true, layne was in a band called alice n chains and they arent very good, but thats not the point. when layne met jerry they started alice in chains. so that name belongs more to layne than to jerry.
Having seen AIC earlier than this year, William DuVall does an absolutly amazing job. He knows he is not Layne, he does not try to be Lanye and if anything, i think he hides out of the spotlight too much! I think even after a few years with the band is still saying "Fuck! i am singing for Alice in Chains!"
I for one cannot wait to hear this album
I wave to all my Friends... Yeah!

Jerry wrote 90% of their material. As you acknowledge, the band was no good until he joined. He's entitled to use it. Hell he sang a ton of the songs himself, with Layne harmonizing or backing quite often. Don't get me wrong, Layne has one of my all time fav voices, but by no means is it wrong for Jerry to continue operating under the name.
Have you ever seen Metallica live? I'm not a huge fan either but they are a great live band. You won't be bored I promise.
It is like going to buy a PJ album with another frontman.
Well your loss.
I can't wait for the new album, having seen them a few times i think they rock so hard and its great that they reformed because i can see 3/4 of AIC rather nothing.

I agree with PJ garden. I am not a huge Metallica fan, but saw them live back in November and the show was amazing. I really had a great time and my faith in Metallica was restored. I didn't go out and buy every album of theirs or anything, but their live show is well worth seeing. If you are already going to the show/ festival hell go ahead and check them out. At the very least you can throw them into the "yeah, I've seen them live" catagory, but I really think you will walk away impressed if nothing else. Also, if you do like them, they are doing a soundboard bootleg download thing like pj ect so you can buy your show day after or so for like 10-15 bucks.
In regards to the new AIC- I will definitely give it a listen. As a music lover and one who grew up within the Grunge explosion I think it's only fair. Personally, I liked alot alot of AIC's songs but was never really a huge fan. (Sorry) I felt that Mad season showcased the best in Layne. That band was just fucking Amazing. Too bad we only got one album. Ok, go ahead and ream me AIC lovers.
I will listen to the new AIC record with respect and loyalty because bands have done that before (AC/DC) being most noticible or relevant for the purpose of this thread.
Obviously, Brian Johnson was well respected as the new frontman - though maybe not at first, but look at what they have achieved.
I am very interested to see where AIC's future takes them. I am in complete support of their dedication and decision- now if the rest of the fans feel that way, time will only tell.
