Hey there folks,

Well I thought I'd set this up for anyone on here who is wondering what is happening where and when throughout the stretched evenings during the summer months regarding festivals on our fair isle. It is also a heads up for anyone visiting/traveling about the country.

Date Sat May 2nd

Site http://www.sibinfestival.com/

Where Man O' War, Balbriggan Co Dublin

Tix for this 1 dayer cost E48 and I think it is in its 2nd year?! From the pics on the site the venue looks great and the info on the homepage seems as though its somewhere you'd wanna be instead of in the City Centre! Mainly Irish acts who the organisers feel get neglected are playing and some international acts too but no one massively big it seems. Which may be alot better!

Date June 26-28th

Site http://www.seasessions.com/lineup.html

Where Main Beach, Bundoren, Co Sligo or Mayo (??!!)

3 day Surfing and Music festival. Tix E54 excludes accommodation with Hostels sold out already more or less. Ya can camp on the local GAA pitch with it E5 per tent per night! Super Furry Animals, KIla, Andrew Weatherall, Dj's and more Irish bands all playing.

Date July 12-14th

Site http://www.oxegen.ie

Where Punchestown Racecourse, Naas, Co Kildare

Oxegen is a 3day festival with 80,000 tix on sale. There are single day, weekend with camping and weekend without available too. Yes you have NME/Mtv 2 mainstream rock acts but you also get alot of smaller bands both Irish an international. The Specials, Nick Cave & Bad Seeds, Blur, YYY's Tv On The Radio all playing along with KOL, The Killers & Snow Patrol. You can get stuck beside young kids up for their first ever music festival, scumbags, guitar wielding folk or sound out people in the campsites. Alas as it in my home town I go home to bed each night!

Date Aug 1 & 2

Site http://www.castlepalooza.com

Where Charlieville Castle, Tullamore, Co Offaly

Only a 2 day festival over bank holiday weekend with tix E89 including camping. Based mainly for Irish acts both signed and unsigned and ain't heard a bad word about it with it now going for its 4th year. David Kitt, RSAG, Dark Room Notes added so far.

Date Sept 4-6th

Site http://www.electricpicnic.ie/

Where Stradbally Castle, Stradbally, Co Loais.

EP is now in its 6th year and the best in the country. Tix are 3 day camping only at E240 all in. Aimed at mid/late 20's upwards along with 30/40 odd yr old music fans as well as young families. Orbital, Basement Jaxx, Madness, Flaming Lips, Fleet Foxes, EITS, Seasick Steve and many more announced so far. Rumours of David Byrne (Talking Heads) Bon Iver and Brian Wilson abound.

There will be more added to this when I can and if anyone hears of anything let me know!

Mantua festival meant to be going ahead too.

    Thanks a lot,

anyone go to oxegen, what did ye think??

i was at the sunday only. the place looked like it had taken a LOT of rain over the few days! I hadnt been to Oxegen since 2005, (have been a Electric Picnic man since), so i wasnt sure how id like it.

Went for the NIN / JA sets, got front row centre, both were brilliant. NIN in particular though, they were just amazing. Short set by their standards but that was always gona be the way.

I also caught Fever Ray (the girl from The Knife), Foals, The Maccabees, RSAG (REALLY good). Id wanted to see them.

Went wandering the stages for the day and saw Telepathe, Ting Tings, Noisettes, Wallis Bird, Phenomenal Handclap Band, White Lies, Blood & Whiskey and a few minutes of the Specials. Wasnt particularly impressed by any of them except The Noisettes and Phenomenal Handclap Band, who were both great.

Great line-up for the festival, but it just cannot compare to the Picnic for me. Cant wait for that now!
