2 years ago I wouldn't have passed up an oppurtunity to see this band but wasn't interested after their last release... I know so many people who were fans that passed up there last tour also.

For me, it's not reason enough to not go and see them live. Sure, they'll play 6-7 tracks from their new album, but that still leaves 18-20 older tunes. I'm not a huge fan of Only By the Night, but I love their older stuff.
Leaving work in a few hours to head to Pittsburgh...setlists have been looking pretty good, a lot of stuff from the older records, should be a good time.

So who saw Walkmen open for KOL last night in Toronto? I arrived just after 8 as they were leaving the stage, the guy beside said they played for about 15 minutes and just walked off without saying anything. Is this true? I was definately looking forward to seeing them but the 2 minutes I saw they didn't look very into it.
They opened with Crawl ... played California Waiting, Charmer, Manhattan, Slow Night, Fans, Bucket...great setlist, great energy. Awesome seeing them in a (small) arena setting.

I passed up the last tour... But I decided to do this one because of the Spectrum not so much KOL. It's gonna be sad to see it go.

Just got back from the Pittsburgh show...fucking amazing. Just a great show overall. They played "The Bucket" and "Slow Night, So Long." Overall a great show. And to see them up close was just something special. Oh, and the new album translates very well in the arena setting.
However...
There were a lot of douche bags at the show. I got at the show fairly early, around 6:50, got a beer (and I stress a for a reason), got a decent spot close to upfront, but I wasn't breathing down anyone's necks. These young college-aged fellas come and stand in front of my friend and I, which is no bother...we don't own the floor or anything. But these guys were CRUSHED. Absolutely stoned and drunk out of their minds. But again, no bother...to each his or her own in terms of anything in life, but especially fun. But these guys were douche bags. They "moshed" to almost every song (and I use the term mosh lightly because they don't know what real moshing is (I told them they should go see a Slayer show to see what's up with moshing). And I was cool with that. Whatever, they have every right. They paid to see the show as well. However...the one guy got pissed when I put my forearm into his back so he wouldn't knock me backwards. I told him to fuck off and leave the frat boy attitude at the door, to which he mumbled something and turned his back (pussy). But what pissed me off the most is that one of the fucks elbowed a girl in the nose, nose started bleeding, then they didn't apologize.
The new Rolling Stone has an article about the band, and Caleb (I believe) comments about how they don't like a lot of the people that come to their shows, but they accept that with a mainstream audience comes those type of people. These were the people he was referring to. The people that don't come to have a good night of music...the people that DO come to act like bags.
But it was a GREAT show nonetheless.

You are 100% right. It is teetering at the edge of fratty. And I have nothing against frats and sorostitutes; if you want to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to hang out with people that's you're business, but don't bring that attitude to something as universal and beautiful as live music.

KOL kicked ass, the venue blew ass, as did the lack of selling out the place, on a college campus. Wished they would have had it at the Petersen Events Center. Awesome show though, good crowd around me, I was up off the floor. The jury is still out on the Walkmen however, not sure what to make of these guys.
Felt bad though that they played to 22k in Toronto the night before, and couldn't even sell out a 6k venue in Pittsburgh.

This may be wishful thinking but I have put together a very believable scenario that I will be seeing Eddie possibly doing 2 appearances at the Spectrum this week. KOL is playing tomorrow night at the Spectrum. Bruce is playing Tuesday and Wednesday at the Spectrum. Eddie and Bruce are both playing the Pete Seeger show at MSG next Sunday. Seeing him with KOL tomorrow night may be a long shot, but Wednesday with Bruce is a real possibility. Eddie loves the Spectrum and we all know how feels about these two bands. The timing is perfect too. Either way the next 5 days for me are going to rock with or without Eddie at these shows.

Yeah, that's probably accurate. Probably closer to an hour and a half.
Come to think of it, in Boston, I texted my buddy at 10:17pm, thinking they were getting ready to play Arizona. Instead, they played Black Thumbnail. And that closed the set. So, just under an hour and a half.

About an hour, forty minutes or so.
They put on a good show. Not much jamming, but they sound really good. Caleb's voice comes across very well live, IMO.
I know they've played a new song (Devil Song, maybe?) at a few gigs, but other than that just album stuff.
If you're lucky.
Come to think of it, in Boston, I texted my buddy at 10:17pm, thinking they were getting ready to play Arizona. Instead, they played Black Thumbnail. And that closed the set. So, just under an hour and a half.
There's a constant ringing in my ears
Sense of humor's void and numb
And I'm bored to tears.......
I'll miss the spectrum :(
