Cornell speaks about "Tadgarden" show

thought you guys might like to see this...

Chris Cornell has finally said something of substance about the brief reunion of his Soundgarden bandmates in Seattle, telling the Washington Post, “If I was there, I probably would’ve gotten up onstage.” The Superunknown band’s Kim Thayil, Ben Shepherd and Matt Cameron briefly reformed with fellow grunge icon Tad as frontman during the Washington stop of Tom Morello’s Justice Tour, performing “Spoonman” and other songs from the Soundgarden catalog.
“I thought it was cool that they’d actually get together and rehearse some songs. I was kind of surprised by it, to be honest. And I love Tad. We toured with Tad; I’ve always felt he was a really amazing person and a really talented guy,” Cornell told the Post. “So I just really thought it was a cool thing for them to do. They were just getting up there and doing it for fun, and I think that’s great. The only thing I didn’t like is that I wasn’t there to see it.” As for whether Cornell would ever reunite with his old bandmates, Cornell admitted, “You never know.”
Cornell also responded — in non-Twitter fashion — to Trent Reznor’s dissing of Cornell’s maligned Scream album. “That’s kind of childish. To be honest, if I wanted to go out to blast records that I hate, I would be sitting on Twitter 24 hours a day blasting 96 percent of what comes out — maybe 98 percent of what comes out,” Cornell said. “There’s a lot of music that I don’t like.” Still, all the criticism following the Timbaland-produced Scream isn’t getting Cornell down. “A lot of people hated it, even people who were fans of us and had liked what we’d done until then hated it,” Cornell told WP. “They didn’t get it. That was exciting, actually. I like that feeling.”

yeah
i've thought about it a lot. Okay he made the awesome solo record, then he made some superband, then he made a bad solo record, then he went and did the unthinkable and worked with Timbaland. Just dont get what else he could really do except reform SG or do some TOTD stuff. To release a 4th album to me just sounds one too many...
no problem!! it was pure luck! i randomly went to their site & saw the blurb about the article.

Chris has always talked about not wanting to dirty up their legacy, but I dont' see a reunion tour being harmful at all. If they decided to put together a new album of original songs, I may ahve a different answer regarding Chris's concerns...but a tour would only rock ass!
Do it Chris! Turn the Garden over...
6/12/08 - Tampa, FL
8/23/09 - Chicago, IL
9/28/09 - Salt Lake City, UT (11 years too long!!!)
9/03/11 - East Troy, WI - PJ20 - Night 1
9/04/11 - East Troy, WI - PJ20 - Night 2
I'm really pulling for that to happen. Not because I like Soundgarden or care if they get back together or what, but because then PJ might have to get a different drummer.
But now... Hum, I doubt it
all that being said... i want a SG reunion
tour AND album
I NEED MORE
thanks for the article though! glad to hear hes noticing everything going on in response to his album and in the seattle scene

I agree. Reznor needs to shut his mouth. (And I like him and NIN a lot).
i've seen some videos of him playing some of the Scream tracks live with his toruing band and while they try to recreate the music of the song with actual instruments, it doesn't sound like the turntable canned music that Timbaland slathered on the album.. it sounds good live played with a band.. there's a video online somewhere of Chris doing Scream (the song) solo and its quite nice..
while i'll continue to pretend the reason Cornell did the album with Timbaland was an experiment and to get it out of his system before getting back to a rock sound, i'll never knock the guy for trying something different.. it's his career, he's able to make the big decisions and at the end of the day as long as he's happy with the results than good for him.. that being said, if the next album is a similar sound I may retract anything I've said here..
and i'm not expecting that everyone is going to be able to look past the Timbaland factor, but just thought i'd throw my opinion into the mix.
and how to do it right

Well said that's how I feel. We love to knock bands/artists for doing the same thing, but then if they do something different they get knocked too. I haven't heard the Timbaland stuff so I can't really comment on it, but if he really was just trying something new, I don't know why everyone is down on him.
I thought the world...Turns out the world thought me
Thanks, so his tour started on the 28th. It just seems too immature to not invite Cornell, from my knowledge it wasn't as extreme as band members trying to kill each other. Cornell could have been busy promoting the record or something to play, maybe he wasn't invited but meh.
everyones random luck and knowledge has turned me into the go to guy in my circle for all things pj and such
thanks for the post
this will probably be a real bad problem.... :?:
when they were super popular, i was too young and too oblivious to tours as teh internetz tubes were not all connected at the time.
*prays for a reunion & tour*
jack irons back in PJ? i am okay with that~
heck, if jack isnt up to it, maybe soundgarden could tour with pearl jam and matt can play for both bands!
Here's a little rundown of the show with some videos:

that doesn't speak well for an album that one would have to take ecstasy to enjoy it.
