I know, I know, everyone will recommend different albums, but I'm asking. Is Red Medecine the best place to start?

Haven't heard ANYTHING.

I personally don't think so. Try 13 Songs. It's earlier, and it's a much more solid collection of songs, some really good likeable tracks.

Strongly consider the following:

Provisional
Waiting Room
Suggestion
Burning

Also, check out Minor Threat. Very cool. That is yet another band Ian MacKaye was involved in. Ian is the balls, and has done a lot for the punk rock genre.

9/03/11 - East Troy, WI - PJ20 - Night 1

• 13 Songs is easily the place to start. Phenomenal record.
{if (work != 0) {
work = work + 1;
sleep = sleep - work * 10;}
else if (work >= 0) {
reality.equals(false);
work = work +1;
}system("pause");
return 0;}

I was gonna recommend "Argument"...purely because "The Kill" is such an infectious track.

But 13 songs is by far the strongest most accesible album, so go with that

not to get slightly off topic, but I just picked up Ian McKAyes from Fugazis newer band, The Evens. They are more acoustic but still very ballsy. very cool stuff.
Pick up my debut novel here on amazon: Jonny Bails Floatin (in paperback) (also available on Kindle for $2.99)

Ah, awesome! Glad you liked it, I knew you would ;). It stuck to me like glue when I first bought it, and I went out on a limb only knowing their name. I knew NOTHING about the band. they've turned out to be one of my favorites. Now you must check out Minor Threat. But I'm telling you, Ian MacKaye is a GOD with punk, at least in my opinion. He always has in hands in some good stuff.

Back to Fugazi, for your next indulgences, check out Repeater and End Hits...

I can't stress enough: Minor Threat.

13 songs is an album that everytime I listen to it, I find a new favorite. Right now it's "Bulldog Front". I love when Ian is screaming "You wanna figure it out!!!!"

OK, I offered this before and didn't follow through for a guy and felt like a douchebag as a result, but I'm offering it again: Email me at ubinmyrvm@yahoo.com your name and mailing address, and I'll mail you a free cd of at least 24 Fugazi songs.

How much do I love Fugazi? Everytime I go to burn myself a disc of favorite songs from them, I can never whittle the list down to less than 35 or so songs. That's how amazing they are (they churned out nine albums).

I could go on and on about the band. Vedder name dropped them once years ago, I checked them out and have been addicted ever since. I think I'm more passionate about them then I am Pearl Jam. ... I sure wish they'd re-form at some point and tour again.

Fugazi is such an amazing band. Glad someone got a thread going on them. Repeater is great... My boss happens to be a Fugazi fan, didn't know that until I heard Waiting Room coming from his office.

Apparently Fugazi is an acronym that Ian came up with.

I read that it means

Fucked
Up
Got
Ambushed
Zipped
In

Kind of some fun trivia :)

that's Vietnam War slang. That's where he got it from, at least according to his answer on the Instrument doc.
