Which disc does everyone prefer? I can barely decide between the 2, but I don't think there is a bad tune on the mellow side.

I'm in the same boat as you soulsinging. This was my first taste of Ben Harper and when I went to the studio albums, they just don't stand up to Live From Mars.

I loved his studio albums in high school but they wore thin and he's never rekindled my interest. However, he was mind-blowing live back in those days and they luckily caught it on tape for that album. Perfect timing. He wasn't quite the same at Lollapalooza I didn't think.

I prefer disc one, but I've always been partial to a good ass-shaking hard-rocking concert.

i set my expectations of Harper & IC SOOOOOOOOOO high cos of this album!! they were great when i did see them...(outdoors) sunny evening with a few beers kind of show .....but my god, this album rules.

the acoustic album especially. (that heartwrenching cover of The Drugs Dont Work always gets me)
