When things turn up that you thought you'd never find...

So recently two very fabulous things that I thought we'd never see have shown up. :)

1) A few years ago when I was doing a show, my Gran came along as a surprise.
It was fantastic for me that she managed to travel all that way just to see me perform and I was stoked she came along. She brought me a bunch of really beautiful flowers and had them sent backstage to my dressing room. It was a great night, great show and so wonderful that she was able to be there. For ages after she kept asking me about the card that she'd written on to accompany the flowers. There was no card. About two months after she died, Mum was cleaning out the boot of her car and there was the card. :) It was like she was saying "Hi" to me. :) I keep it on my bedside table.

2) My great great Grandad was a zoo keeper and he and all his family lived at the Zoo. Ever since I was a little kid I knew about that side of my family, and wanted to be a zoo keeper. Even got the chance to be for a few weeks in High School. I knew that my family had been written about in a book about the Zoo and my Mum remembers having a copy of the book when she was a kid but could never find it. For years, practically ALL my life, we've tried to get a copy of that book. Just today Mum was clearing out some boxes at my Gran's and she found the book!! Granted it's cover is gone and some pages are missing but she's found it! With all the pics of Grampa Sam and the critters. :)

Have things turned up for you like that? :)
NOPE!!!

  • Jeanie what type of show were you doing?! Was it a tap dancing show??

I had this happen with a special bracelet. I got a very pretty tiffany's bracelet for my 18th birthday from someone special and it went missing. I was so sad. I couldn't find it for ages. It was the first time I took it off too..

One day I heard it jingling and my oldest cat came running out of the closet with it in her mouth! I ran in the closet and found a little nest of things she had been hiding from me! Seems she stole it, and I caught her, forcing her to return it.

Geez! :D Now you're testing my memory. Hmmm....let me think. It was a cabaret style show. I think it was the one that was a spoof on awards shows. I don't think I tapped in that one, but there was singing and dancing and acting if I remember correctly. The ones before that there was tappin. :)

That's awesome! Well except now you gotta keep an eye on your kitty with the klepto habits! :D How good to find it though? I love when you find stuff like that, the stuff that is important, that you treasure. :)

:D Well mostly I wouldn't have remembered either except that Mum just rang to say that she found the book! :D And that reminded me of the card.
Oh and my uncle just emailed me a bunch of pics from his wedding weekend way back in 1974  when I was flower girl and I can see me there in the pics with my hair all in rollers sprawled around with everyone on the grass out in the backyard before the event and I know it's me but I do not remember ANYTHING about it! :o

Funny how little memories pop into your head, or NOT! ;)

Maybe I shoulda added, "when things pop up that you can't even remember" to the title???

  • Oh Jeanie I'd a thread about this a few weeks ago when I was clearing my room out and found a lot of old letters and postcards and photos and diaries... I was laughing and crying reading them. I also found my grandmothers coin collection that she'd given to me (probably kinda sad but there are some really cool coins in there  ) and loadsa stuff... I'd so much fun going through it all.

Oh and Saturday I finally found the dvd remote control that had been missing for months :o

Oh I love when stuff like that happens! :)

Most of the stuff that I have from family and friends I can access easily though. I went through a few years ago and put all the letters and cards and stuff from everyone especially ex's in clearly marked folders with their names on so I didn't keep coming across shit I didn't want to read by mistake.
Now I can look through all the letters and things from family any time I like and not be afraid to get sucked back into the vortex. :D

That woulda been hell without the remote!
And now I'm gonna pull me finger out and reply to your pm! :o:)

:( oh that's sad. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. :)

There are things I have lost of sentimental value that have never reared their heads again but I was so excited by the book and the card. It was kinda like they were sending me a message that it'll be ok or something? I dunno. Dumb maybe. :o Just how it felt. :)

after my dad died about a year ago, my sister and i, and our significant others were cleaning out his place, and my sister came across a recipe book. it was blank or so she thought almost threw it away, but there were 5 pages in the front with my favorite meals. there were little notes from my mom (who passed back in 98) to me on how to make the stuff just how i like it.

so i didnt lose it, hell, i almost never knew it exsisted.

shit, now that im thinking of it, im not sure where i put it though.
im sure my GF knows where its at.

    anyway, it was cool.
    Peace, Love.
