Okay, so Kathy Griffin is a little frightening to me. She is very odd looking. I know she has had a ton of plastic surgery in the past, even though she swears it off now, for the past 5 years even.. but there is something so odd about her.
Sometimes I think she is pretty funny, and sometimes I'm like. ugh she's so pathetic and annoying.
I don't think I get her. I end up watching her show, My life on the D-list, and I don't turn it off, but I'm like.. what is this crap? a show about trying to hard so be famous? I guess maybe I don't get the whole I want to be famous, no I don't, yes I do, no I don't.. concept.

She's the female version of Carrot Top minus the steroids.
(I) wouldn't class her as a pretty woman, no. And you're not alone. I feel as if I'm missing something as well.

She did an HBO special back in '96 that was borderline funny (only because it was by memory, completely absent of any celebrity encounter stories). Ever since then she became the name dropping unfunny and incredibly annoying person that she is.

She's about the only redhead I don't find attractive.

i'm not offended. sorry to stumble across so many people who have surface sensibilities and not a very good sense of humor or recognition of funny ass people.
Her being ugly and her not being funny are mutually exclusive. I'd hate her just as much if she was hot and annoying.
She's really not. Jerry and Kramer had it right all along.

Well, you can include Kathy Griffin in the group of those who have "surface sensibilities", for having had a shitload of plastic surgery that has rendered her face worthy of discussion.
Oh snap.. I was in the middle of typing that!
I think people that surgically alter their face willingly, to "look better" open themselves up to discussion about looking weirdly surgically altered.
i enjoy her outrageousness.
i cringe at some of the things she does/says...but i do that over what most people do/say and they're not half as entertaining.

she has an ability to see hilarity in situations and i think she would find this amusing.
andy dick is also quite outrageously funny.

Yes, she made a personal choice based on her surface sensibilities. That was my point.

I don't have Bravo so I don't know what the show is about, BUT based on her stand-up act, she's basically using her personal experiences as a struggling stand-up comedian for laughs.
Most stand-up comedians have a shitty lifestyle and many don't become nationally known until they are in their mid-30's.
Only a handful make it big or if Lorne Michaels discover them.
I remember an interview with Quentin Tarantino who talked about how much he admired stand-up comedians and how he uses a lot of their dialogues in his film scripts. He actually casts Kathy, Karen Maruyama and Steven Wright in a little movie called Pulp Fiction. Kathy and Karen were the bystanders during the Butch-Marcelllous car crash scene and Steven Wright played the Gimp with the S&M mask on.
Oh yeah, I know she looks like a drag-queen from all the surgeries- which explains why she's so popular with the gay and lesbian community. And a straight man myself, it's very hard to admit I'm a fan of her act.
