leaving time

bruised and battered
broken and torn
if i knew
how to fix it
you know that i would
you float through my life
and that was okay
but now that i need you
you keep me at bay
i don't think i can
don't think i can last
perhaps it'd be better
if i were a part of your past
i'll go oh so quietly
you'll not hear a thing
and just when you think of me
the phone, it will ring
you'll hear what i've done
be sad for a while
but then it will dawn
living this life just wasn't my style.
hear my name
take a good look
this could be the day
hold my hand
lie beside me
i just need to say
