Poetry in a male/ female sense

Do you ever read things on here and wonder how different it is from a male/ female stance?
I'm always thinking that, coz there's no indication as to who's a guy or a girl on the board.
This probably wont make any sense to anyone but it's just something I've noticed.

If you read a poem written by a girl about a lost love but imagine it in the context of a guy talking about his own life, it seems much different than a girl talkin about her own experience.

Sorry, like I said it probably makes no sense but it's just something I've observed on here.

    i've thought guys were gals and vice-versa
    i think some pieces are obvious, and not because they speak of gender specifically, but because they speak of more gender specific things

    i dunno, but i don't read too many guys saying "baby i wish you'd just talk to me more"

    lol glad to see u know what I mean (I think!) I just think it's really interesting to read the poetry another way round and get a different perspective on things. Not in the obvious sense such as 'baby i wish you'd just talk to me more'! lol but u know what I mean.. I'm not crazy right?!

    i have this book with a buncha passionate type poems in it?

    and i'm always eager to read the men's works...

    it's very interesting to get the "othersides" perspective :)

    I write a few things now and again, not so much coz I think that the more you build it up, the stronger it is.
    But then you have people with loads of talent who can write piece after piece and still blow your mind away!
    I'm feelin pretty inspired at the moment though, the rain is fallin outside and I've got MOTH playin. Might disappear into a land and write some words.

    Mine's mostly pain and shit like that but the piece I am most proud of is the worst piece of poetry u have ever heard! I was bored in a history class about a year ago and wishing I was somewhere else, it's a comical one in my make-believe land!

    oh, i don't know naomi... i'm inclined to think that the more i get that "pain and shit" out, the less opportunity it has to do real damage...

    i don't think the act of writing produces an obsession
    i guess it might if you're writing a thesis or a novel

    but these little poems,
    nah...

    there are several fine threads here containing ppl's opinions on that subject... some smart mother fuckers 'round here to be sure :)

    I see your point, never thought of it like that I guess. See this thread has opened my eyes to new explorations!
