i think i win hands down for the worst 1st concert
ok ready for this?.... in '06 i was dragged tosee mariah carey, mohegan sun arena in CT. the acoustics were awful, & so was the whole concert
...had to put on a big smile, cause my mom bought the tix for me, her, & my sis thinking we'd enjoy it

    beat that!

since then, ive only seen 1 other concert, maroon 5 & counting crows, which was great! i'd like to see so many more live shows, but being a 16 year old who cant drive & is almost completely broke makes this awfully difficult. i CANT WAIT for college in 2 years where i can finally go to more concerts! nothing beats a live show!

Did she play Shake It Off? If so, you're ok in my book.

Red Hot Chili Peppers in Nijmegen (Netherlands), June 2007. Well, actually the first concert was a rapper, who was opening for them. He got boo-ed of the stage, everyone was throwing stuff at him. It really was a short first concert, but I found it really amusing at that time :P. The crowd gave me a bad example how to behave at a concert :D. (but okay, maybe it wasnt really smart to take a rapper as opener, when people are coming for a rockconcert)

My first show was The Who with Jethro Tull and John Cougar at Folsom Field in Boulder, Colorado. October 17, 1982. Tickets were 16 bucks. Also my first view of live boobies. I was offered heroin and cocaine in the bathroom. A random girl spilled beer on me as I was walking around the stadium and another random girl wanted to kick her ass for it. John Couger was booed. I was 13.
  • Page and Plant- Mar 27, 1995 @ Skydome Toronto.

I was 14. All I can remember are solo's and a stench that I wasn't familiar with at the time but I've grown very familiar with now.

  • first chaparoned concert: SHA NA NA (I'm not joking here). Sometime in the early 80's with parents in New Haven, CT.

first unchaparoned concert: Poison/David Lee Roth - the Skyscraper tour; New Haven, CT. DLR even rode a surfboard suspended from the rafters right over my head.

    Good times...

My first gig was a band called 'Dan Reed Network' at the Birmingham Hummingbird in August of 1990, I'd just turned 15 two weeks before.

First Pearl Jam gig was at Wembley in October of 1996. I'm after a ticket stub if anyone has a spare or can obtain one. I would be so grateful.

Mine was "Yes in the Round at MSG", It must have been 1978. My parents drove us in and dropped us off in front of the Garden, we had a wine sack filled with some kind of liquor stolen from my parents liquor cabi. We were in the nose bleeds, people were smokin dope all around us, it was crazy, especially for a 13 year old! Times were different then!

Shaolin Monks were waay cool. No Wu-Tang though. There was no mystery band at the show I attended.

    Canned Heat.

I just wiki'd them - I absolutely cannot believe they are still around but, apparently, they are. :D

Rory Gallagher and Jethro Tull, shortly thereafter.

Alice Cooper in '75 during his "Welcome To My Nightmare" tour. I guess I was around 12 at the time. Good way to start a life time of concert going.

Cool! My husband and I are big Rory fans. We're thinking maybe someday we'll make it to the Rory fest they have in Cork every summer.
We saw Tull a couple of times too.

I am really enjoying this thread, both vicariously and reliving a lot of memories. :)
